I'm wondering if it's to do with the backing up beeps. Do you have them on your car? If you have the radio on, but turned down very low, the backing up beeps will turn up the volume.
Hi, thanks for that suggestion, but I haven’t got a reversing beep on mine. The only option I’ve got is the camera coming on when in reverse and beeps start start and get more rapid when I’m getting within a foot or two of an object. The radio seems to start as soon as I start reversing regardless of anything behind me, and when the radio isn’t on!
A bit annoying, but I can live with it!

That's the beeps I'm talking about!

The radio amplifier won't know how close you are to an object behind, will it? It will just turn itself up to a level you can hear, when you select reverse. I still suspect your radio is on in the background.

Some of the updates can happen OTA if they're small enough. Normally when there is an Rlink update it shows up in the Rlink toolbox thing. It's so long since I used it I can't remember anything more useful!

I’ve just been into the car, and found that when the radio is on, but the volume is turned right down to silent, it comes back on at a low volume when I put the car into reverse, as you thought, but it is a bit odd, as why would you need the sound to come on at a low level if it was turned right down before you selected reverse?
However, when the volume is at a normal level, it drops when I put it in reverse, which does makes sense.

It'll be the same level every time, so that your beeps are at an audible level.
