I know there have been one or two references to this on other posts but really think it warrants a thread of its own. I have never known even the most basic radio systems doing a random reset. So, how common is this issue, and have members lobbied Vauxhall on it?
It really is an unacceptable software bug, is there a common cause for it?
For me it was simply after parking up when shopping for four hours, so not put on charge.

Yes they need to sort it. There are variations of it, but I tend to find it happens if I stop and then turn the car back on after a minute or two.

The tone controls reset is the most annoying but the change to metric was the weirdest.

I know that Eden Poole knows as their demo car does it.

It does it pretty randomly, about 4 or 5 times for me so far. It doesn't reset completely: I use the second favorites page (leaving the first one as it was originally set up). The FM stations survive the reset, as does Radio 4 on DAB, but other DAB stations all vaporize.

Ours does it every now and then.

I am past reporting stuff to Vauxhall now about the software. If I did report everything I'd be on their backs so frewquently they'd be fed up with me!

Basically the software is rubbish and is full of bugs such as this.

I agree that there are big issues with the software here. I have contacted Vauxhall today and am interested to hear their response. Having paid a considerable sum for the car there ar some real basics that are simply unacceptable, so I think the more of us that voice concerns hopefully the greater the chance will be of something being done. The sat nav map is out of date. It would be good to know when customers can expect an update to it.

From what I have heard it won't be free... anyone else heard anything about that?

I would sugggest all members report this to a representative at:
[email protected]
Debbie Murphy, signing as My Ampera Specialist, was quick to respond when I last contacted. The message must somehow get through if we are to get a response

We can report it all we like but so far Vauxhall hasn't shown any signs of actually taking notice of us. There have been loads of reports to MyAmpera for various issues but so far Vauxhall hasn't actually responded with any kind of update... especially regarding the SatNav issues. There are just far too many issues to report them individually to MyAmpera. I haven't been noting them down (apart from mentioning them here) so I haven't got a list of everything we have found.

I also resent that we, the early adopters, are having to do the testing that Vauxhall should have done themselves prior to launch. I can accept that there might be teething issues and I expected that but the number of software issues is much more than just teething issues... it is poorly tested and in some case very poorly designed software. I am very unhappy with this and with the way Vauxhall is not responding to the issues we report. They sound sympathetic when you report them but do nothing.

I am cross... can you tell?

No, not really Paul :D

I am also cross  and I really do hope that Vauxhall do something to fix these issues soon.

But the only way to get issues fixed is to report them and keep on at the dealers until we get some satisfaction. Also get trading standards involved.

I think the car is spoilt by the very poor software and this is the easiest thing to fix.

It seems to me that they put a lot of effort into the stuff that controls the car as that on the face of it seems mostly OK but the ancillary software that collects and displays info or drives the other add on items like the radio, sat nav and displays has not had the attention it should have had.

I have had the central display reboot a couple of times while driving IIRC but it did not loose any settings.

Only issue I can say I have noticed is that sometimes when a traffic announcement comes through I cannot cancel and go back to the station I was listening to, it does not matter if I use the screen control or press the 'select' dash button below the display. The highlighted option does go white as though it has recognised the action but the radio still stays on the traffic bulletin station even long after the bulletin has stopped.

I registered with that site and received the email telling me there was an update available. However it is £209 although you can get 7% back if you go through Quidco. I think it is kind of steep for my car which was less than 8 months old when I got the notification of the upgraded maps.

Generally mine doesn't lose the favourites (has done it once but may have been to do with me fiddling around with "driver personalisation" not sure) but it quite regularly just doesn't work on DAB. The favourites are still listed and you get the feedback when you press the button but just silence from the radio - FM still works when it does this just no DAB stations at all.

Mine is exactly the same. The radio update fixed the loss of favourites but the occasional loss of DAB remains.
I have identified two conditions which cause the DAB loss:
1. Having the Radio on DAB with the volume knob turned off for a considerable length of time while the vehicle is powered up. Using the mute button on the steering wheel instead overcomes this problem.
2. Turning the vehicle off and on in quick succession via the power button while the Radio is turned on. Giving the vehicle enough time to go through its full shut down process overcomes this problem.
Next time it happens to you, perhaps you can relate it to one of these conditions.

aah you might be on to something there. This morning when this happened I did indeed have the volume turned right down so I thought oh silly me its just the volume but turning it up didn't help. I'll get in the habit of using the mute button - thanks for the tip...

I *think* I've had another circumstance where a DAB favourite demonstrates that behaviour, and thats where you power up the car in an area where the DAB signal has disappeared and isn't there for a period of time after power up. I can't say I've ever systematically tested this, but I'm convinced I had this a couple of times when I used to visit an area which couldn't get a local DAB station. I haven't been there for several months, and I haven't lost a DAB favourite for months either. Another thing I'd recommend you try is to just specify 1 page of favourites in the settings, rather than the default of 2.

The only time I ever lose my radio presets is when I use the second key. Now I only use one key and everything is good!!
Yes I've had that as well.
