It seems that my media unit doesn't remember the last playing media, instead it goes back to an album I was playing ages ago! Every time I start my car I'm greeted with Christmas music!

Is there any setting I'm missing?

If I use Spotify on my phone then the app remembers what I was last playing, same with music files on my phone.
I also have a USB stick with music files, but I can't remember how the car's media player deals with that 😁
Haven't done any long journeys so mostly use the radio 😢

FWIW I use mp3 USB stick and it always plays automatically from the exact place it was at last time when I start the car.

Have you got it set to Album repeat by any chance?
Maybe try doing a reset with the little hole thing.
There maybe a setting somewhere, TBH I can’t remember.

I use Shuffle play always.

To clarify this is when I'm listening to music off my usb stick

I haven't listened to a lot of USB music, just tested it working. But when I played video, it always remembers where it is and actually starts at the same time in the video.

I can't imagine it will be different with music.

@ChargingUp Just a long shot, but does your USB stick have some kind of write protect switch?
Even if it does, I’m not sure if it would make any difference anyway. Just clutching at straws.

Another thought, if you started your playing by selecting an album, it might continue just playing that album. Can you drill into the screens and find the one that shows all the files/tracks, then start playing from that screen? I think I went through something like this when trying to make shuffle work with all files rather than just the present album/folder started from.

Thanks I'll give some of these a try. FWIW I generally select an album and then shuffle it, so the song it is stuck on was played that way, and the new songs I try are also played that way!

No write protect on the stick!

It is set to album repeat, but I do change the album when playing a new song!

Mine likewise always resumes, I normally play random songs from the stick, i.e. select a song and make sure you have shuffle on...
