I am in the process of sending emails to a few locations about the possibility of installing EV charging facilities.

It would be great if other SpeakEV forum members that have had success in getting these facilities installed to post a template. Maybe I could use a few lines and facts that would get a better success.

I have had positive replies saying it's a good idea but nothing set in stone.

If these templates could be posted in this thread then great, other SpeakEV forum members could also use this at a location they think would be useful. If you would rather keep it private I would be very appreciative if you sent it to my email address;

Cheers

I have spoken to @Kevin Sharpe about this many times and as he has about 3 years experience installing ZCW free charging stations I am very much inclined to agree with his view...

Of course it is always possible that you will be successful cold-calling, either in person or by email. However, Kevin has had almost no success going in cold in that way. It generally needs some kind of active engagement... staying at their hotel, using their restaurant etc before business owners open up to the idea of installing a charging station. They must come to realise the benefit to their business themselves... telling them is generally not enough.

So, rather than just firing off emails try to visit the establishment concerned and use their facilities and show them that EV owners can be their customers and they will then realise the benefits to them... otherwise we are just another of the hundreds of cold-callers they see week in and week out.

I am not saying don't cold-call by any means... if that is what you want to do then if it is done sensibly then it shouldn't do any harm and you never know...you might get lucky... but if it is a location you really want to convince to install charging then it is definitely worth a visit :)

Good luck either way :) :)

Yeah I can see exactly what your saying. In the case of staying at hotels that can be easily done. Have a chat with the management of the hotel etc.

I'm talking about sending emails to retail parks / shopping centres etc where I would have thought sending an email to direct management would have a better effect, as you don't see the management "on the shop floor".

But yes I definitely agree with you that if your using a service I strongly urge all EV owners to ask the facility for some charging facilities.

I can't believe how many LEAF's I have seen locally this weekend! Before this weekend I had seen 2 in the wild. This weekend alone I have seen 5! We need these facilities locally for growing numbers of EVs!

By all means do it. the more that ask the more that management is likely to realise that there is a real demand. Just don't be surprised if you don't see much success.

Please keep us informed on your success or not. I have a particular interest as we could use this to create information for others on the Plug in Britain web site. :)
