Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone here has experience of Rolec wallpods.
I've had a 32A type 2 socketed unit installed at the office to charge a 16A Leaf. All seemed well until I noticed that charging had stopped prematurely. On inspecting the front of the wallpod the LED was off - not red, green or blue, but off. Whilst stood looking at it, the contactor clunked in the red, green, blue, green sequence ran through and the car started charging again. This pattern was repeated about every 20-30 minutes.
Monitoring on Leafspy, I see that each time this happens the L1/2 charge count increments by one - if I continue to allow this to happen then it wouldn't look good if I ever had a battery problem as Nissan could claim I'd made lots of short charges. To charge from 30% to 100% racks up about 15 counts.
I consulted Rolec who eventually sent me a new "Com" unit. Having had it fitted this weekend the result is almost the same, the only difference being that the contactor clunks in and out 6-10 times each time the vehicle starts to charge. The electrician removed it and replaced the old one!
Whilst here he checked the earth (PME) and found it to be good.
Does anyone else have any experience of these units? My first thought is overheating, though the behaviour seems to be much the same regardless of ambient temperature.
I'll contact Rolec again next week, but at the moment I'm thinking that I might as well return the unit and put a 13A socket in its place for the EVSE that came with the car!
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
