Service cost for a 3 year lease

Hi all,

I’m thinking of leasing a 2+ on a 3 year/10,000 miles per year contract. This would be my first time leasing a car, so am new to this.

I’m terms of service costs, there’s an option to include this in the monthly payment and works out at about £20 per month. So just shy of £750 for the 3 years. Seems like a lot and just wanted to ask how that would compare to paying for any service costs as they crop myself.

Thanks in advance.

Hi TTM, I'm purchasing a new e-Niro 4+ on Monday, and I enquired from my dealer as to service plans and their cost. I was quoted £249 for a 2 year plan, £479 for a 3 year plan, and £709 for a 5 year plan. They don't do a 4 year plan. I don't know if the Lease Service plans include items that my private purchase service plan doesn't cover. I suggest you ask the question.

Yes, will do. Thanks for the info though
Beware. There is a Kia sponsored service plan and often a more expensive dealers plan. The dealers often talk about one but sell the other.

Make sure you see the official Kia web site for a quote before signing up!
Check your lease. Unless it states you have to have it serviced at a Kia dealership, block exemption law means you can have it serviced at any VAT registered garage using genuine parts and Kia new car warranty is unaffected.

Kia Care 1-3 is £479, so quite a bit cheaper. Thanks

That’s really good to know, thank you
If the additionla cost is a 'maintenance' option, check if it includes tyre cover. Our maintenance cost does. SO yes, you are probably breaking even on the servicing (main dealer yes, but I think and EV is not ncessarily one to throw at a back street garage) but one punctured tyre and you are quids in

My local backstreet garage is HEVRA accredited. Definitely prefer them touching our EVs to the manufacturer’s appointed dealers.
The 3 & 6 year services are expensive, as they involve changing the battery coolant, which is seemingly made of unicorn tears or something, based on the cost.

The 2 year package is pure profit for Kia, from memory the only scheduled work are pollen filters and brake fluid.

I believe for the warranty you need to ensure authentic Kia parts are used, but the work doesn't have to be done by a Kia garage.
I paid £400 for a 5 yr/50,000 mile service plan when I got my first edition, but I think prices have gone up a bit since then.

They have to about £730. Main reason seems to be the cost of the battery coolant change on the 3rd service. Someone (above) described it as Unicorn tears. For some reason the coolant (which is resistant to conveying electricity) is extremely expensive.
For what it's worth, for our 2 year Niro 2LR lease the cost for service / maintenance was an optional £10 extra a month.
