I am confident that insurance prices will come down - it all relates to the number of claims registered for this type of vehicle as well as the type of driver. Initially there was not enough data so they bumped it up to what might be expected for similar specialist vehicles. Generally, Ampera drivers appear to be sensible and mature with fewer than average claims. Hopefully this will influence the premiums.

There may be something in that. DL quoted me £247 as a renewal but a phone call got that to £220, which is a few £££ cheaper than last year.

Btw I got an online quote from them as a new customer and it was over £300.

Just done a quick quote for myself. Came up about £430 with 10 years no claims. Does sound a tad high compared to other cars.

I have a multi-car policy with Direct Line. Had to add a new policy for the Ampera without any NCD as I havn't sold either of the other two - £355 fully comp with £350 excess. Oh - and they just wrote to me offering refunds on the other two if (if !!) my mileage has been lower this year because of Covid lockdown !
