interesting that we have companies in the UK (Chargemaster, Podpoint etc) and they chose to go with a french company, does that tell us something about our home grown charging companies ?
Interesting development for sure.

My Chargemaster card membership page says I apparently have Polar/Source London (that's how it's listed), wonder how that works?

IER will be looking to expand the number of Source London charge points to 6,000 by 2018 to meet the growing needs of EV drivers. They aim to do this by working with existing partners to identify new charging locations or by attracting new partners to the scheme.

IER also propose a broad range of customer services for Source London members and will be developing a new Source London website, a London based sales office, new mobile applications and platforms for engagement through social media.

I don't think you have read it right. There is a difference between charge point installers, network service providers and system operators.
I'm assuming that IER are the latter and there is no reason why various brands of post cannot be procured and installed?
However, having seen what IER has done in Paris, I think Chargemaster will find it increasingly difficult to win business in London! Watch this space for the arrival of the Bollore car brand and the Autolib hire fleet!
Autolib's cars now look pretty tatty, but the concept is excellent - book a car online, pick it up on a nearby street corner and drop it off at a charging point, near your destination! Pay by the minute - its a great way to see Paris (I think). Though my own experience was less that satisfactory - I booked the car - went to the rank - but whatever I did the car wouldn't release. It cost me the daily sub (Euro 10) - but i'm putting that down to experience!
I think IER/Bollore/Autolib will made EVs, in London, 'hip' and ubiquitous!
In my view it will do more to promote EV adoption than any other EV initiative!
It won't be cheap, but its a great alternative to the Mini-cab/black cab. Flexible, spontaneous and fun! Let hope the remnants of the London pub/club culture don't spoil it finding alternative uses!

Interesting. I previously had a polar chargemaster card that worked in source london. I *think* that is no longer the case.

Does anyone know if any or polar (v1) polar (v2), ecotricity (white), ecotricity (green), podpoint, source bristol/CYC work in source london chargers until the transition date?

So I guess we're getting back to isolated charging schemes though I assume they'll be offering PAYG... and maybe over time we'll see some kind of roaming for those that join a membership scheme for heavier use?
I tried my new in September last Chargemaster card in Bicester Village yesterday. I have had no letter or email to say they will not work as of April 1st.Two posts there and neither worked with either card, I have 2 because the first one wasn't being read I thought, of course I now know better...duh! I have tried those posts four times since September and have never succeeding in getting either of them to work so no great surprise.
There was however a Leaf charging on the left post!?o_O Whilst the car park operator was busy discovering his C.M card wouldn't work on either post Leaf owner appeared. His Source London card worked but only on the left post.
A single success from one in four cards but only on one of two posts so a 7:1 failure rateo_O:eek::rolleyes:Since then I have discovered a CM post that worked on April 2nd now no longer does. It seems service denial i.e. "The Big Switch Off" is underway.

I have only ever been able to make the left charge post work at Bicester in all my visits.
Altough I have not tried it I understand the Source East card should work in Source London and Source Midlands Posts.
Polar Network cards should work on any public Chargemaster manufactured post anywhere in the country.
Chargemaster manufactured posts are individually configured as to which charge scheme cards are accepted, and they don't seem to know about how the roaming schemes are supposed to work (I phoned them up when my Source London card didn't work on a Source East branded post in Watford)
Some pod points (always the ones that don't charge a fee) seem to be configured to allow any RFID - even Oyster cards - which is a very user-friendly setup.
