Hi Noob here!, long time lurker though :)

I recently lost the Apple CarPlay/App connect functionality from my car, a 65 plate GTE which I've had for nearly 18 months, it's been working fine all that time.
I've tried all sorts and scoured the net for clues how to get it up and running without having to resort to taking it to the dealers and getting a large bill.

Anyone seen this? I'm guessing the internal memory has got corrupt, I do hope it can be reset without a potentially costly out of warranty replacement, or having to pay for the dealer for an 'activation code'

Strange that I've lost all these things at once, no bluetooth either.

I've tried downloading the latest update from VW but although it see's my sd update card it says no updates found.

Thought I'd ask before booking it in! :)

Have you changed the battery in your key? Or had your car reset (disconnected 12v battery)?

Do your emode and gte buttons still work?

Nah, key battery was changed a good while ago, not been near the 12v, not done anything to it/had work done on it for quite a while, been ticking along nicely!
Everything else works fine as far as I can tell, radio works and most menus and displays work other than the affected features.
Only thing that happened that morning was the fact I hadn’t plugged it in to charge, the wife commented that the engine started straight away as it was empty but she didn’t plug her phone in so doesn’t know if lost the features at that point

Is NavPro left switched on so starting automatically when ignition switched on? Whilst SD card with latest map data in slot have you tried keeping power button depressed until unit reboots?

I've tried the hold button reboot a few times, along with factory reset, I've even tried the other update menu by holding down the menu button, this shows loads of modules, when the update card is on the slot it shows that some of them can be updated e.g. shows the old version and new version, some of the modules say ERR next to them, I'll try and get a picture of it this morning

Here are some shots of the service menu, notice the start button is greyed out, also it seems I can find the logs of when I updated it last time, 2018-12-05, assuming that was 5th of December 2018 not long after I got the car. the files show what version I upgraded to (for common_eu it's 125 to 175), and the screens that show ERR when tapping on them they show the newer versions on the card I assume. (for common_eu 175 to 185)

I am using the same card I used last time, I've even tried various formats, exfat/ntfs and currently on fat32, I've even partitioned it to 32gb as it's 64gb so I can format it to fat32, tried windows machine and a Mac.

It's the first time that I see the ERR and F.

Whenever, I have had this issue (SatNav data loss, mostly caused by key or car reset), I would need to go to the garage to get it "updated" with the original VW SD card. Which I had to buy after a prolonged argument with VW/dealers. Although, now that I have the SD card, I still can't "update" it myself, so I'm assuming it needs VCSD coding or something.

The original thread should be around here somewhere....

The update issue may be a red herring, or a result of this issue I found with VCDS:
