crap happens. still want one! imagine that was a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle...

it's rare and new and people are looking for a story. as far as i can see it barely got into the mainstream news here.

Not really no, the rapid and fact-backed response from Elon Musk probably helped, same as the owner coming out in support. Reminds me of the early MINI days when they had a recall due to sparking fuel filler pipes. :eek:

Just read this, scary thought!

According to the National Fire Protection Association:

"U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated average of 152,300 automobile fires per year in 2006-2010. These fires caused an average of 209 civilian deaths, 764 civilian injuries, and $536 million in direct property damage. On average, 17 automobile fires were reported per hour. These fires killed an average of four people every week."
