So now we know a little more about this beauty:
  • Center-seat driver, McLaren F1-style
  • 0-60 in 5 seconds, 20 seconds with 80,000 pounds
  • Up-hill at 65MPH versus 45MPH for other semis
  • 500 miles on a single charge, even with max load
  • $5,000 reservation with production in 2019, reserve today and get it in two-is years
  • 4 motors
  • Megachargers - can add 400 miles of range in 30 minutes of charging
  • Enhanced Autopilot:
    • Automatic Emergency Braking
    • Automatic Lane Keeping
    • Forward Collision Warning
  • Musk says the Tesla Semi will have 1 million mile guarantee, while the brake pads will have “quasi-infinite” lifespan with regen braking
  • $1.26/mile average cost versus $1.51/mile for diesel truck

My big question is whether this is an EU compliant cab due to length restrictions. Everything else looks good.

Also, we have to wonder if the Megachargers will be rolled out for the cars as well? :)

I was blown away by the whole event.
In awe pretty much all the way through it.
How those ranges are possible at highway speeds and the other thing. 200kWh? How dense is that?

I've often wondered why trucks don't have a central seating position, it makes international travel so much easier not to mention manoeuvring, would have thought it was cheaper to manufacture as well.

Nice summary cah197 - I suspect the Roadster is for another thread! Both items looks very good on paper, hope it turns out in reality as well.

Minor thoughts that was not mentioned I had after watching,
  • There is a distinct lack of a summon feature on the mobile app
  • I would have liked to see some sleeping space instead of a cupboard
  • No hitchhiker space :p
  • But where is the good latte?

There are some shots of the rear of the cab space, where there’s a jump seat for hitchhikers.

There’s also a decent are for storing any dead bodies you may come across, or alternatively I’m sure it could be a bunk.

Summon would be useful when you’re disconnecting the trailer, yes. :)

if Elon's minions have found a way to package 200kWh into that chassis, perhaps they could do something similar with an LWB sprinter size vehicle?

I continue to dream of an all-electric motorhome :)

I would say 80-100 miles on a full charge is closer to the mark.
I would also say that it will take about 30 hrs to fully charge.
Rendering it useless.

On the dailymail the near top comment is 'hydrogen is the future not this rubbish'.
