I was wondering if any one could shed some light on how the media are able to obtain information relating to EV charge point usage? The reason I ask is that I work for a Council that has been scrutinised in local/national newspapers recently for not using our electric fleet.

The only way I think they cold have obtained this information is by asking one of our internal staff (unlikely given that they do not know this information) or simply speculation!

Is there any other way they could find this information out I.e. does the usage data from a charge point get passed on to a third party, such as the manufacturer or electricity supplier?

Any information on this would be much appreciated.

Council data probably subject to FOI requests, can be made to whoever your data compliance officer is I assume. Although OLEV seem to have worked a way around denying such information to the public.

@Julian Thomas managed to get the information from MK council - I'm not sure if it's a case of finding the right person though.
