I've currently got an issue with my leaf, vampire 12v drain, relay clicking (inside the IPDM E/R) - 2016 Leaf Green Ignition Relay - My Nissan Leaf Forum this is the discussion from the other forum...

Seems to be related to the VCM control of the charge port lid opener--that is the only function on fuse #3 in the 2015 FSM.

This comment gives me hope, but my car is currently (12v) dead (got a ups hooked up with a battery charge and going to revive at lunch tomorrow to take it somewhere I can actually plug it in lol) - I'm going to give that fuse pull a try to check the clicking - anyone saw this before or have any ideas?

(My leaf is a 2016 24KwH - but my IPDM is the X2 one - the same as in the video, my relay clicking seems to line up but just doesn't sound as crisp - likely due to being over exercised already by constant running and lower than ideal voltage)

Huh, that's interesting - my nissan report does mention checking for water ingress and not finding any - but that may be referring to the IPDM that I ended up swapping

I'll be taking the glove off to disable the TCU, I'll inspect the area and see if I can see anything - any idea if the BCM can be swapped without the garage diagnostics tools (consult I think it's called?)?

Someone on here successfully dried out a wet BCM using a dehumidifier, there are recent threads about it. The signal for the ignition relay comes from the BCM. It's not clear whether it's the BCM itself or the wiring going up to it that's the issue.

I don't think it's my ignition relay tbh - I changed that, I swapped the entire IPDM E/R tbh (Nissan quoted just shy of 900 quid for this) but it didn't help at all.

Someone else on that thread is able to silence the clicking by removing Fuse #3 in the IPDM, I'm going to check if removing F3 also fixes it for me (or silences things at least lol)

I did see the threads on here re. the water ingress though, that's also on my list for looking at

I'm probably going to end up grabbing a spare BCM, and seeing what happens when trying to change it

Yeah, been doing a bunch of looking

That F3 pull does nothing for me, I am leaving the car sitting with dehumidifier bags and running the AC atm (and also goign for drives with the windows down).

Had the dash apart the other day, little bit of rust on a couple of brackets on the drivers side - for a 16 plate I assume this points at water ingress, still trying to isolate the actual issue though.

I do have a spare BCM now, likely to try changing that over this weekend - will be interesting to see if that either solves it or causes other issues haha

I had a bit of rust on mine too, but as it's only mild steel I didn't give it any real thought. (Touch wood) since I put mine back together it's been OK, but I've put the heat on every day and have avoided jet washing it, in fact cleaning it at all.

For me the relay issue was the BCM. If you have the glovebox out it may well be with trying to blow out the connects with some compressed air and letting it dry for a while. I have in my mind from some thread I can't currently find, that the BCM needs to be coded to the car/key. Even so, it should help diagnose what's causing the relay issue.

Many thanks all - I took it fully apart and got the BCM out proprerly, little bit of corrosion on the contacts and even found a little liquid on the BCM itself.

Drying it out did sort the clicking out which is great - but it may have returned (not 100% sure)
