Well, I’m glad that UK gov had the discussion with Tesla.

They should have just thrown money and guarantees at Tesla. It would have been worth it for the PR alone.

Being in contention isn’t good enough, Andy Burnham is deluded.

Brexit will have been a big factor in this, as will the distance from Europe\Ports.

Sticking it to BMW et al in their back yard was likely a big factor plus all the bungs from the govt. Overall probably the most logical choice for Tesla irrespective of brexit

Whilst the idea was nice I take it all with a large pinch of salt. After all, it wouldn't be the first time an MP and a newspaper have 'adapted' the truth. I did read somewhere that Elon had suggested opening a R & D department in the UK but nothing more. Ignoring Brexit (if only we could) no none is going to build a manufacturing plant in the UK and distribute across Europe. Far more sensible to base your plant in the middle of Europe with good road and rail communication across all European countries. The tunnel and the ports would be too bigger a bottleneck.
