Does anyone know what network UVO uses? I have in my mind it’s Vodafone but not sure.

Reason being where I live is quite rural and it seems to be a signal black spot as the app is very slow and unreliable in connecting to my e-Niro making it a bit useless. When out and about it works perfectly so pretty sure it’s a signal issue.

If I know the network I’m wondering if I can get some sort of signal booster at home. I’ve seen them before and they plug into your home WiFi hub if you have poor mobile phone signal.

Anyone had issues with signal and found a fix? Weirdly when the car is plugged in and charging the app responds much quicker. I’m guessing it’s because the car is semi on. When unplugged it takes ages to connect.

Good question. I had to drive a way off my house in order to finish UVO - I kept getting the 'network' message. I'm hooked up now.
But my wife wants to know if we are charged for mobile data use when we use UVO.
She thinks we wi-fi to the car and then the car uses mobile network(s) to connect to the Kia server.
Anyone got a definitive answer, please?

When you use the UVO app on your phone it will use Wi-Fi if you’re connected or your 3G/4G/5G so it will use a very small amount of your data. The e-Niro has a sim card which means it can pick up the signals (and commands) sent to it. That also works over the mobile network.

I believe when you buy an e-Niro that SIM card has 5 years worth of free data for basic features (remote unlocking and turning the heating on) and 1 year for the other features like live traffic updates. After that you can purchase a subscription. It’s very similar to other cars such as Ford and their FordPass app.
