Does anyone know if the VESS volume is adjustable?
I can't hear any pedestrian warning sounds on my MY20 Soul!
The VESS switch is illuminated which I think means the sound is enabled.

How long have you had the car? At first I could hardly hear it on mine (e-Niro), now it starts annoying me ;)

I assume my E-Niro is similar?
If I turn off heater, stereo, wipers etc etc, to make everything quiet, I can plainly hear my VESS inside the stationary car even with all windows closed. It’s not loud but it is clearly audible especially you alternate between it on and off with the button whilst listening for the difference.

There is no VESS volume adjustment AFAIK.
You must be in D to hear it! It doesn’t sound when in N or P!
Yes VESS light on means VESS is on.

At least it's pretty subtle in the e-Niro. In my opinion VESS is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Anybody who can hear at all appears to be aware of your approach at the sort of distance you would expect, even without the VESS on. Yes, you can creep up on the unwary if you try, but you can do that in many a modern ICE car, too.

ive had almost had a couple of unware pedistrians at normal speeds and they look at you as if its your fault, but ive had the same on the bikes to the point ive fitted a 150db train horn whether it is in reality 150db is mute and yes its lust like the videos of people jumping when you hit it

The Niro is obnoxiously loud. I can hear the reverse bong in every room in the house when my partner leaves (and it’s a 4 bed detached house so not small!) and it really bus me that it makes the noise even when stationary. My Leaf does not do this, when you stop, it goes quiet, and when you release the brakes it starts again. In the Niro, the constant drone makes me turn it off if waiting in traffic/at lights etc.

Agreed. if it was just the hummmmm I could live with that, but the reversing bong is Stupid. It’s now caused turning vess off the first thing we both do when getting in the car, as trying to reverse up a narrow drive at 6am with it on is downright anti-social.

Hey be thankful, at least we get the switch! Apparently in the US you can’t even switch it off
