Hi everyone! I had my lovely blue ID.4 delivered yesterday but I am having trouble connecting the complimentary WeConnect card/app to my car. The app says to navigate to the Menu, then go to Settings, and "Connect to We Connect":

142616

However, when I go to the menu>settings in my ID.4 I don't see that option:

142617

142618

142619

Has anyone connected their ID.4 to the WeConnect app yet? If so, how? :)

I did it when picking up the car, in fact, the sales chap insisted on it. The menu option was there on the screen for me.

Do you have a green light on the overhead console, and the vehicle is in online mode?

Did the dealer upgrade your car to 2.1 (0792) before collection do you know?
I've tred connecting it to my wifi to no avail - and every time I turn it on I get a "No connection available" message after waiting 15-20 seconds (which is a bit annoying). I am on 0792, yes:

Sorry to keep asking questions, but are you saying the car isn’t going into online mode?
So when I turn the car on for the first time in s but, I get a "Searching for connection" message (I can't remember the exact phrasing, and I'm sitting in the car now so I can't bring it up...) which displays for 15-20 seconds. I can drive off of I need to during this time, but I can't do anything else on the display. After those 15-20 seconds I get a "No connection found" message which I dismiss and then I have access to the display.

When I got there car on Friday, the dealer confirmed it took the latest update, though when I called them yesterday and compared to one of their other ID.4s my system information didn't match.

When I look in the menu I see an option for "Offline mode" which is turned off:
142654

I do think it is connected to my wi-fi when sitting on my drive:

142656

When I turn the car off and I get the "Goodbye screen" however, I see the option for "Online mode" and that is turned off:
142657

If I try to turn it on I get this message:
142658

Does that answer your question? Sorry, some of the menus are a bit confusing...

It does, thank you!

The reason your car isn’t showing the Connect to We Connect menu option is because the comms module (or 4g Sim) isn’t online.

I’ve been reading the German ID forums a lot lately, apparently there is a procedure right at the end of the software update where the 12v battery lead gets pulled, the brake pedal depressed and the car left in that state for 15 mins, then it’s powered back up.

I think there are two possibilities here, either they didn’t do that last step when updating, or the update didn’t perform correctly on the comms module.

If it were my car, I’d try pulling the 12v negative lead for a few mins and reconnecting it, that will most likely bring your module back to life. However, that’s me, and I can’t in all good conscience recommend you do that, as harmless as I think it would be.

The correct course of action is to get the dealer to take it back in and have a look at it, and verify the software update was carried out correctly.

I'm willing to pull the 12v negative lead, do you think I need to depress the brake pedal for 15 minutes too? Or just try the 12v battery bit? (I mean of course, if it were yours, would you do that?) ;)

The procedure says pull 12v negative, depress brake pedal fully and then release, no mention of having to depress it for 15 mins.

When it reboots, you will have a myriad of errors, but they will go on restart. The steering one will only clear when you’ve cycled the steering lock to lock once or twice.

I’ve ‘rebooted’ my ID.3 twice since I’ve had it, the first time for an issue where my comms module went offline. I didn’t press the brake pedal either time.

Ah, I see. Pull the 12v negative lead, push the brake pedal in fully, immediately let it out, then let the car sit for 15 minutes before reconnecting the 12v and turning the car on. I can do that.

Thank you so much for your help - I went through the reset procedure you described and it worked! I am connected to WeConnect now (though the dashboard is indeed lit up like a christmas tree now... You said the errors would clear themselves over time?)

Yes, cycle it on and off a few times, then the steering wheel from lock to lock whilst stationary, maybe drive forwards a few metres etc.

It will get itself straightened out. 👍
