What else is missing / different on the ‘Life’ model?

So just wondering about this — obviously there are some bits of kit that are clearly not included with the Life trim, but are there also some other features it doesn’t include and which are maybe not so apparent or known about - an example being no voice control of the climate control.

What other little things, not apparent from looking at the spec lists, are missing / different on the Life model vs the higher spec models.

The life trim doesn’t include a backup camera afaik.
No rear camera, normal (not Matrix LEDs) LED headlights, no raised boot (prefer it that way, for the dog's sake), no rear seat armrest/child separator, no dual climate, no keyless entry, no grab handle lights, no front grille strip light.

Really? Is that a trim thing or a software version thing? (I found a YouTube video with a Business model refusing to voice control the air con, but that was on a prior software version). Would be a bit irritating if true…

Voice control is only possible if you have dual-zone climate rather than single zone.
Whenever I try and use voice control I tend to need to put the aircon 2 degs cooler thh…
Yeah - so I was wondering if there’s anything else along the lines of no voice activated climate control really.

What about externally, any other differences except the headlights, standard wheels and no handle lighting?

Tail lights, indicators etc the same or more basic on the Life?

And stuff like ACC - does that work the same on all models?
The Life and others with single-zone climate also don’t get the 'smart climate' menu.

The whole "no voice control" option with single climate seems like a deliberate omission rather than hardware capability lacking. Surely its easier to tell voice control to change temp on a single zone rather than dual zone.

Yep I imagine it’s the sort of thing that may become a paid for software add-on.

Can anyone comment on the comfort in the middle rear seat of a non Life ID.3 please?

We need this to be OK for decent length journeys, I tried an Octavia with ski hatch/arm rest a few weeks ago and was surprised to find that it was uncomfortable due to lack of padding there.

Guess you could use a cushion, but not ideal!

You would not want to be the middle passenger. I just tested out our Life and Family editions - much less comfortable in the Family.

Ah that’s interesting - you tend to only really ever hear about the lack of ski hatch / arm rest being a negative, but for many people it may actually be a positive then.

Thanks, very helpful, presumably due to a lightly padded backrest?

I would probably have to save a few quid and go for the Life then else the mother in law/children wouldn’t be happy!

Lightly padded and not much give.

Here's one thing we noticed, but it's a fairly small thing.....

In the Life trim, the front seats do not have pockets on the back of them! You could pick up an aftermarket seat pocket hanger, but it's pretty scroungy that these are not on all trim levels as standard.

I see that as a good thing. Our youngest kept trying to.put her feet into them in our Polo GTI+

Oh yeah, there’s more than one way to look at it for sure. Our kids are at an age where the seat pockets are a great convenience.

I don’t think I’ve used those since I stopped carrying paper maps. Aaah, those were the days…
