Since I had my home charger installed I think I have only used my in car unit twice.. I think the wall mounted tethered charger really is the solution here.
However I can not see any reason for the cable not to be retractable, it would be very simple to have a cut-off that means it would only work when fully unwound.
I guess the next task after that is to microsize the EVSE switching unit into the 13A plug.
