Unless it changes with EVs, most manufacturers are on a 6-7 year life cycle, with a mid life refresh.

On that basis I wouldn’t expect any significant changes until the 2023 model year. But, I’m guessing just like everybody else really!

What would I like to see?

Some kind of ‘sport’ version, with better seats. A performance hike for the cooking models would be good, or at least the option for a bit more if you’re not that bothered about efficiency/max miles per kWh.

An all wheel drive version would be good too, but technically more challenging in the ID.3, although I’m sure it wouldn’t take much to accommodate it. I hope they do, and even if my next car isn’t an ID.3 or even a VW, I don’t think you should have to get an SUV to get the benefits of AWD.
The better seats seem available in some markets already - they are much sportier with integrated headrests. As far as I can tell, they are the same seats that come with the ID4 Max.

I think they already have this on the higher spec models, Travel Assist it’s called?

It’s more than the basic Lane Assist.
Yes, I find travel assist works very well, in all areas where road marking are clear. It does go much further than lane assist, it also starts and stops properly in queues, rather than disengage after a few seconds.

I’ve played with travel assist in a few situations, including busy motorways, each time it’s worked well. Obviously you’ve got to keep your hands on the wheel, but I’ve allowed the wheel to move itself, within my grip. It’s a slightly odd feeling, but I’d performed well, kept me well centred and haberdashery bends very well.

Its one of the bits that works well on my ID3

There seem to be so many ID3 extras, available in other markets, but not the UK. If they added them all to the UK configuration options, it would almost be like a mid range refresh.

Examples

I’d have liked the sports seat, look very smart. Available on some trim levels in Ireland.

I’d also have been interested in the surround view camera, again available in Ireland, but oddly only on the Tour 5, not even on the higher spec original Tour.
