White interior concerns

My ID3 Tour is due to be built during the fourth week of January. Initially as per my family's request it had the safrano orange dash and white steering wheel. Thought it looked really cool but was terrified it would look bad after 6 months time and changed my order to the standard black and silver interior. Now debating changing it back and the clock is ticking seeing as our car is being built in under 2 weeks. How are people finding the white interior? How will it hold up?

Not sure anyone on here has white(?). But I’ve never come across any negative comment from looking at numerous reviews and YouTubes.
BatteryLife has white with over 12000km, isn’t the tidyiest, and all still seems well.

We've got white, and still looking great after c.10wks & 800mi. Quite like the bright & airy look to the cabin. After 5+ years, who knows if it will still look as good 🤔

This is just a personal opinion, but I would never go for a garish interior colour like Orange if it was my own car and I was buying it, not leasing it, as I would be concerned that the 'love it or loathe it' nature of the interior would diminish the pool of potential buyers and hence knock the resale value.

Similar concept to brightly coloured walls, garish wallpaper, coloured bathroom suites and artex all knocking the price and / or the time to sell for a house.

Fashions have a habit of going out of fashion.

Of course, if you are leasing it, who cares!

I have also ordered white/ saffron on my MAX. I have always had dark/black interiors and just wanted something different.
Especially in a car that in new and different. Looks bright and happy IMHO

I am not worried in the slightest about it getting dirty as regular wipe down should take care of things.

At the end of the day It's a matter of taste I believe that there will always be a market for the white/ saffron.

Comparing the two pictures above, though I am more certain than ever on the colour scheme I prefer.

I accept though that white saffron colour combo s not everyones cup of tea.
Tour on order -

Because I went for the Blue (darkish) paint finish, I decided to go for grey/white inside, I thought it would lighten the inside.

It is all a matter of preference.
I'm mostly concerned about keeping the wheel clean. Grubby hands after handling a public charger then into the tiny spaces between the stitching just sounds like a recipe for it looking awful in a couple of years! It looks fantastic in a clean new car though.

I'm not 100% set on getting an ID.3... but I'm 100% set on getting one with a black steering wheel :ROFLMAO:

It's a shame there isn't a more interesting option with a black wheel. The higher spec ID.4 cabin looks great IMO, and doesn't have the white wheel. Guess I'll have to make up for it with the ambient lighting!
Again, it's purely a personal opinion, but when I saw the initial images of the interior I didn't want anything to do with the car until it was available with as close to black inside as possible :) I just know that as much as I might fancy something more striking and in your face initially, one day I'd get inside and just think 'yeah, what was I thinking':D.

Personal opinion aside, I imagine the light interior will wear just fine, as long as it's given a little more attention as and when.
I prefer the white, I think it will need less maintenance than piano black. You only need to look after the white steering wheel. Whereas there is a lot more to keep clean on the piano black, all 4 doors, screens, they look awful unless kept spotless.

That's a really good point, the piano black trim would look awful with fingerprints and would scratch easily

I've got the white and orange interior. Seems fine to me so far, since the end of September. I do think that the white eliminates much of the piano black + fingerprint issues. More importantly I have a full set of rubber foot mats. I live in a rural area so there's always lots of debris to bring into the car by foot.

Gone for the white and orange on a lease... precisely because Piano Black is a complete nightmare to keep clean and shows up marks even more than white does. If you get a mark on white that stays, the same mark would stay on black. Plus, plenty of 'film' spray protective products you can use to extend the life of interior surfaces.

Gonna bump this as I've got the Moonstone White/Grey interior ID.3 now for 7+ months.

We are much happier that we bought the white interior than the black one - the lightness lifts the color and makes the place just seem friendlier. We're amazed also that we've not yet passed 1 other ID.3 or .4 with a white steering wheel.

As far as wear, none of the light-coloured materials show any signs of discolouring or darkening. When we wash the car every other week, I do clean the steering wheel as well (VW has a cleaning kit for interiors - we use it) and it's still spotless. The darker grey door panels can get a bit whitish where your elbow rubs, but they clean up easily too.

Honestly - with never having to worry about oil or gas again, just enjoy yourself and get whatever color suits you. I've gotten compliments from other ID owners on the combo and a few have said they tried to get the white and weren't able to (probably from existing stock). If you're interested and it's available, have no fear - it's going to last.

No idea about other countries, but VW UK don't offer any interior colour options any more - you can have whatever you want as long as it's black/grey.

I suspect it was ordered too rarely to make it cost effective for them to manufacture for RHD.

I have seen a couple "in the wild", but very few.
We had a Family with the white interior ordered but had a change to a pre reg with options (wheels, heat pump, paint) so ended up with black. I would go with the white interior if I could as I think it looks more interesting than the black.

I think it was only a 1st Edition aspect. My White//Orange interior with Moonstone grey exterior fits very nicely IMHO. And yes it's a 1st Edition.

No, it was an option when they initially released the “series” specs too.
Yes not just for 1st edition. My Max is in White/Saffron -Had it since March No regrets still looks great!

My order went in early august. Was told couldn’t have the orange and white as no longer an option. Disappointed- would def keep if I was you and had the choice!
