Just wondering why the bonnet isn't longer on the ID3, rather than having the black hump?

Presumably it houses the leaf guard and wiper motors - is it attached to the bonnet or the main body of the car below the windscreen.

Just seems an odd choice vs longer bonnet unless it's a critical part of an aerodynamic design.
A lot of comments were made about that when the design first broke cover, various theories, apart from just styling.

One of the favoured theories was it’s for pedestrian head impact protection, which makes sense given where it is?

The reason for the ugly hump is probably the same reason the interior plastics are very sub par. Its purposely done to make the car less attractive to Golf buyers.

When VW are ready to start decimating Golf sales for more EV sales, it'll get a much better quality interior and the bonnet will get a re-design, but for now they need to keep selling large volumes of ICE.
You should go spend some time driving a Mk 8 Golf and get back to us. 😂👍

I drove one for just over a week a few weeks back, same interior screens and very similar software, a few more soft touch plastics, and some nicer seats, but not much else.

As somebody who has purchased every Mk Golf since v1, including the halves, the ID.3 has cannibalised at least one Golf sale here.

The MG specs quoted for 0 to 62 and top speed are incorrect. At least this is the case for a large number of the cars sold. My own car actually will do 0-60 in 7 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 96, whereas officially it tops out at upper 80's with the acceleration time as you quoted. Very odd...
I think a lot of EV 0-100kmh times, as irrelevant as they are I suppose, are deliberately conservative.

I’ve seen reviews measuring the 0-60 time on the ID.3 as sub 7s, note to 60, and not 62 which is a little longer.

Manufacturers probably don’t want to show up their ICE models too much...
