Charging at Chievley I saw this on my phone.

Does anyone know what it is all about? Is there a way that we can get use of wi-fi provided my the charger?

This is a development worth watching. It could be the answer to the app issues if it takes away the signal and data problems. All that is needed now is a USB socket for my phone in case its battery is dead and I might be persuaded to risk an EH stop again. But of course if the Rapid itself had a built in keypad permanently logged onto the web site via a hard-wired link, then simply entering a personal ID code there would do the job without anyone needing a smart phone.

The charger end isn't the problem. Out of hours it's the EcoT end of the phone that's the problem.

When you can use it, the wifi it provides will not be on the Internet, but only allow access to get your charge started, apparently, and should prove more reliable than relying on cellular data coverage.

Wi-Fi is restricted to a small area around each pump. It’s called EHWifi_sitename & password = Ecotricity #ukcharge #EVs (2/3)

It's still a dogs dinner, the RFID cards worked really well and they still haven't got back to anywhere near that level of reliability/usability.

People complained bitterly about RFIDs. Now people complain bitterly about the apps. No doubt when contactless payment comes in there will be complaining about that.

For me, it's not the card or app that is the problem but that you need to have a different set for every supplier going.

I think RFID cards were more reliable because they didn't rely on having the right mobile phone and that a good mobile signal was available, it must be really frustrating for people with Windows phones

Someone has to come along soon with a universal card/payment system and save us from all this madness

Why on earth do they have a different SSID at each site? Surely they could have had one common SSID and then you would only ever have to set it up once.

To keep you on your toes - every fifth time you enter a password it will change and send a different one to your phone by text - next day .
