Will wide screen Android Auto work?

If I am not mistaken it is, but Kia have not implemented it as such, meaning that AA will display at 2/3 of the screen width. So I guess that the split AA screen will mean you can split the 2/3 into two 1/3 widgets at most. It's a pretty poor implementation that Kia have done here.

Just saw a post on a Hyundai forum that apparently allows you to confugure split screen for AA. That does NOT meanyou get AA at the full width of the screen, but that you can use the remaining 1/3 for a widget from the Kia Infotainment system. Gonna try that later.

Not in the UK you can't.

The USA software allows the right 1/3 of the screen to be used for other things, with the left 2/3 being AA. The UK/EU software uses only the left 2/3 of the screen, the right 1/3 is wasted. Since neither actually uses the full screen for AA, the new AA functionality doesn't apply to the e-Niro.

I think the USA, and possibly Canada, actually uses different hardware altogether. If you download the USA update from update.kia.com and compare it with the update floating around the internet, the file names, structure and size/content are completely different.

Maybe that's the reason?

Think it is a North America thing. Though why on earth Kia have such apparently frivolous differences in their software in different markets baffles me. How do they keep on top of who has got what. One system for all please Kia - that's not too much to ask is it?

I got around the crap implementation of AA in Kias by blagging my son in law's broken screen Apple 7. It doesn't even have a sim but I just tether it to my android phone and lo! - beautiful wide screen CarPlay. Maybe one day Kia will fix their AA implementation but I didn't want to sit around waiting for a day that may never come.

Apparently the next update will bring widescreen Android Auto support. Currently being tested

When using AA can you do other things on the infotainment system such as use the radio, review EV? I can't seem to get out of AA when in it. Also the 2/3 thing is ridiculous!

There is a handy shortcut provided in AA, and aptly named "KIA". Press on that, and you will be taken to the main screen of the KIA infotainment.
