Have a Zappi 2 being installed on wednesday but looking at installation videos (fun for a sunday evening) I’m now worried I may need additional bits.
I assumed it was a smart charger to qualify for the OLEZ or whatever its called, and all the videos you see show it with the app showing current going from solar to the house or out to the car etc, and they talk about solar PV balancing etc and use of smart tariffs.
But if I’m reading/watching correctly - you can’t do any of this out of the box?? I’m hoping I’m wrong but if not I’ll need to get in touch with the installer asap.
1) Seems like you only get one CT clamp in the box which is needed to measure incoming current from the grid. So if you want to also monitor incoming current from Solar (which I do) - I’ll need a second CT which seems to be an optional extra (no idea how much or whether they’re difficult to get hold of). and of course this is the kind of thing you’d want to get set up at installation time as it needs to connect inside the charger.
2) it seems to have no way to actually use the app they always show, without an additional hub, which also needs to be wired to your network? I have a spare ethernet socket either in the living room or in the spare room closer to the Zappi but is it an absolute requirement?
Is it just a dumb charger wiht a manual timer without these two things? I guess if I’m on something simple like a fixed off-peak tariff I can manage with just the additional solar CT and then using eco/eco+, although I would like to be able to monitor the solar via my phone (as the inverter is in the loft so I rarely see it)
