I have no doubt this is a Mode 1 cable with inline RCD. Please ensure it is compatible with your EV before you part with any money.... most cars do NOT support Mode 1 charging which is why you have 'bricks' in your EVSE cables today.

Here for information are two Mode 2 cables manufactured by Mennekes;

They have a UK office (here) but have a reputation for being impossible to do business with... good luck!
Not impossible but hard. Also they are normally priced at a premium.

I was quoted around £400 for a type 2 to type 2 cable.

Also they do not do type 1 cables and have no plans to start

Thing you need to remember that this unit can provide up to 16a so you have to be very careful you do not select it.

Also you may need to look at the spec sheet for the charger because it may not be upto uk standards if the "box" more than 30cm away. You are allowed upto 50cm in Germany. So they may not able to sell it to you for use in the uk.

Got in to work and the cable has gone back to the customer. They will not take one out of its box so I can plug it in for a little bit, they want me to buy it but there are no refunds on electrical goods, I really want it and it's a good price not to sure what to do.

This sounds worrying to me. Without a PWM module how do you know what current the on-board car charger will draw from the supply?

Drawing 16A on a 13A plug for long lengths of time does not sound like it would end well?

This lead does not sound a lot cheaper than a portable EVSE with a range of current settings.

They do a type 2 version of the one below.

Portable Mode 2 16A J1772 EVSE with 16A COMMANDO Plug

Whatever happened to this?
If you can afford a Tesla Roadster surely a legit Renault unit won't break the bank surely?
