I am considering. changing my car and have found a deal, for a 69 plate MG ZS Exclusive with 5k on the clock for £21195.....

Question is is that good?

Looks like there is no type 2 charging cable just the granny charger and no mats either. Hopefully might be able to negotiate these or get price reduction.

Avoid. I picked up mine yesterday from Richmond Motor Group in Guildford for £21,995 (Pre-Reg) and only 48 delivery miles to the clock. Car mats and Type 2 cable thrown in.

I wouldn't say avoid I'd say use these prereg deals to haggle there are loads of these 70 plate exclusives around at the moment for £22k bit remember that is for white only blue and black is a several hundred more and red over 500 iirc

I'd hope that you could get everything thrown in for £20k or under given the pre-reg deals

Some dealers are even advertising brand new for a shade under £22k - not pre reg. I wouldn’t say the car you’re looking at is a great deal in light of that.

Granted these super cheap deals all seem to be ineligible for the “peace of mind promise” or the cheap finance.

There have been some good deals kicking around on the ZS EV over the last few weeks, but they are offered as cash deals I believe ?.
Are you part exchanging your old car ?.
If so, what is the difference between the trade in price on the 69 model Vs a brand new car ?.
The "Price to Change" has to be a LOT cheaper on the 69 model before it would even be worth considering it.
Remember it has had one owner already !.
Some of the new car deals have been offered with a free wall box and even free servicing, I really would shop around a little more first.
The type 2 cable is an extra priced item, which MG can supply but most people just tend to buy one themselves on-line a little cheaper.
The "Granny" cable should be supplied with the car as standard equipment.
I would also advise the "Interior Protection Pack" when you find a good deal.
It is a extra at £140.00 but it includes front and rear tailored mats with the ZSEV logo on the front mats.
A boot liner and front and rear mud flaps ( fitting not included ).
Maybe the space saver spare wheel & tyre kit, if funds allow.

My daughter has just bought a sub 1000 mile Exclusive on a 20 plate with type two charger thrown in for £22,500 in light blue.

They have an identical 70 plate with zero miles for £495 more.

After I told them it was still too expensive, they dropped the APR from 5.9% to 4.9% saving £15 per month or £720 over the four years.

Perhaps not the very best deal possible but she’s happy and she loves the colour.

From all the deals I saw, the sub £22k deals were for white Excite models rather than Exclusive.

Excite is being advertised at £20,297 by a dealer in Leeds, Exclusive at £21,890 in Coventry. Both claim to be brand new.

I guess I didn’t look hard enough!

But I doubt either would deliver to the south coast for free.

Haha, yeah that’s unlikely. I’m going to test drive one at my local dealer shortly but I doubt they’ll be able to get near those prices. Like I say though, that’s a cash price with no access to the cheap finance and doesn’t come with the “peace of mind” thing.

Only bit of that I’d miss would be the servicing, not eligible for the OLEV grant so the charge point wouldn’t come to fruition and type 2 cables aren’t hugely expensive.

I went out with my daughter on the test drive and was really impressed with the quality and spec.

I’m seriously tempted to get the 5 estate when the GLC goes back.

I got my brand new (70 plate, 11miles), 3 year servicing, type 2 cable, charger install and mats for £21,500 (admittedly at end of quarter/month).

Edit:
Exclusive trim, but white so the "cheap colour".

What dealer, if you don’t mind? That’s a properly good deal

A type 2 cable isn't that expensive, neither are the mats and things. On the whole, the Exclusive model is pretty well loaded.

I agree with you. For me, it's the getting something extra beyond the price. You know I've got something for nothing sort of thing. Which we all know really isn't.

On the type 2 cable though. I think MG are just being penny pinching. To my mind, whilst in a few cases it's not essential, it should have been included and the granny cable not included. I know it will help until you get your wall charger, but really? How many granny cables will sit in the boot never to be used again. I'm one of those. I bought a granny cable for the Zoe (£500) and in 3 years I've needed to use it twice. I've tested the MG one and now that is sitting in the boot.

Similar situation here regarding the “Granny”.
It is hanging on the wall in the garage right now.
I found it useful a few times this year and for the same reason last year in my VW.
We had a weeks holiday with the grand children and we stayed in a really nice modern wood cabin in Yorkshire.
I used the “Granny” to grab a change in the evening time.
This year we did the same in Harlech and used a socket in a brand new static caravan to charge the ZS.
So, they do have there use’s when there is no chargers close by I guess.
It’s one of them, you never really use it, but when you need one, you need one !.
A lot like other things we have in or house or garage.
Sit’s there gathering dust, but on them couple of times a year when you need it, nothing else will do the job safely or correctly.
Come to think of it, I must get my extension ladder back from my son ! :ROFLMAO:.

Thanks for all the comments.... you really do need to look around and closely at the offers.
I am in no rush and could sell my Leaf 30kW privately which would give me more options....

Until you get a wall charger you usually need a granny charger. In addition should your wall charger fail you have backup charging available, therefore if a granny charger was not supplied it would be a sensible purchase anyway. Plan B is always advisable.

Dunno. I'm just about to connect mine as my solar panels are doing nicely today! I haven't had my charger installed yet and in any case Octopus still haven't repaired my smart meter so that I can take advantage of Agile again. I've an Ohme cable ready and waiting.

My deal was Exclusive in white, 7 miles on the clock, mats, type 2, first year servicing, for 21,950. Not bothered about the pre-reg as it'll be irrelevant when I come to dispose of it.

Agree - When the dealer has pre-registered a car to hit their sales figures for that month, it makes very little difference in the great scheme of things.
Although some folks may argue it's still seen on the V5 as an owner and technically I guess it is.
But it only happened to raise sales figures for that month and increase cash flow.
I have bought pre-reg cars in the past, if it offers a cheaper deal on a new car that has only covered less than 100 miles, I am all for it !.
Enjoy Sue !.
