Automatic opening door handles?!

Hi all

Does anybody know what the deal with the electric fold out door handles in the UK specs is? Is it for P45 only?

I have an Ultimate 5 and my handles are manual to pull and don't pop out like I've just come across.

I feel a little robbed if I've missed out on this feature especially as the handles are very tricky to use (especially when you're holding something). I've even caught my finger inside a few times. Ouch!

The standard ioniq 5s don't have automatic door handles. It was only the P45 version that did. A bit underhand by hyundai uk i agree, as it is a nice little feature. Its a shame most "reviews" of the ioniq 5 on youtube were on the p45 version, which made it look like you got all these nice features.

There were some "early" ultimates which slipped through the net and got the automatic doorhandles, but they were never part of the specification and now the newer deliveries just have manual handles.

The car I had for a demonstration had the pop-out handles. I was told the one I was buying was the same spec ( although we did not go through every detail with the dealer and I never thought to ask about handles as all videos I had seen were very complimentary about them ). Of course the car I got has manual handles which the whole family find very hard to use. Definitely not designed for small children's hands, bags of shopping etc.. The doors are getting scratched because it is hard to find the handles in the dark. So far, only response from Hyundai is that they can't fit pop out handles as after sale. I am still pursuing with customer service as dealer washed hands of problem.

The whole manual handle thing is a joke - total misrepresentation by Hyundai - I have never in my 43 years of buying cars had to ask what sort of door handles I wanted, I have always had the ones on the demo car, same as everyone else. Hyundai have been so sly about this - the UK are the only ones affected, we were not even offered a glass or solar roof or even electric rear seats!!! I will never buy a Hyundai again as they are just untrustworthy as a company - we should all get together and take out a class action law suit - they would definately lose!

Still mis-representation when all test cars had electric door handles and all press cars had electric door handles - they knew exactly what they were doing! Nobody ever checks the door handles when ordering a car - I would not have minded manual door handles but the ones fitted are rubbish, two handed, finger pinching nightmares. A pity they did this on what is otherwise a decent car.
