Hi all, I’ve had the dreaded ‘Electric Traction System Fault’ twice within 30 days which seems to be an increasingly more common fault across the Vauxhall/Peugeot EV platform. First time September 19th, second time October 18th 2022. Both times it was without warning and left me stranded in a live lane. My Corsa-e is my driving school car and therefore it’s considerably impacting my business. I’m interested in compiling a case with everyone that has suffered this dangerous fault. I’m surprised it’s not subject to a Product Safety Recall Notice given the fact the car can just stop dead without warning or for the driver to get to a safe location.
Dealer has been good but Vauxhall Customer Services have not been helpful at all. My Corsa-e is under warranty. It is my driving school car and so this fault, rendering my car undriveable and unsafe is negatively impacting my business. I’m seeking compensation from Vauxhall.
The fault is 5 weeks in as of today, 3 more weeks and I can involve the Motor Ombudsmen. I will also report this dangerous fault to the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency so that a proper investigation can begin which in turn will hopefully force a Product Safety Recall Notice. At present the DVSA reports no safety recall notices upon this platform.
I have discovered that Vauxhall released a ‘BSI software upgrade’ recall notice on October 6th 2022. NOT a safety recall so many like myself, my local dealer, work colleagues with the same vehicle platform etc are unaware of this software recall. In other words, Vauxhall/Peugeot seem to be trying to keep it quiet, presumedly because a Safety Recall is high profile and has financial and brand confidence issues. I’m interested in compiling a list of everyone affected by this fault in order to strengthen our case.
