Tesla's big seller gets a major updatewww.autocar.co.uk
I'm glad I'm not the only person who is excited about EV charging units!
I thought the new version was a massive improvement over the old car and would have given it 4 stars myself. I don't like the really stripped down interface but I can easily see why some people would choose a Model Y over other vehicles. How did this get 4 stars??
- Sparse design with next to no physical controls
- No dedicated driver display
- Still no CarPlay or Android Auto
- Still fairly firm and noisy, despite some successful updates
- Rapid-charging speeds are now only so-so
- Optional paint colours are very expensive
- Ride and handling are fine rather than standout
BUT..
- it has a big FRUNK
OK - all is forgiven!!![]()
Yes, I was really just laughing at the auto journalist obsession with frunks.. worth at least 2 stars in any review!I thought the new version was a massive improvement over the old car and would have given it 4 stars myself. I don't like the really stripped down interface but I can easily see why some people would choose a Model Y over other vehicles.
It's good that a V4 SC has finally gone live. Tesla have now joined the 800V club, and have 1MW capable system in the wild. Though the are still somewhat behind the curve on the latter. Both Alpitronic and Kempower have live 1MW+ systems. It will be interesting to see the roll-out curves for all companies.
