Hi! I just test drove the EX30 plus long range single motor, and I really liked it (time to upgrade my i3).

I read some old threads on software being buddy, how does it look now? Lack of threads makes either nobody is buying those or they're all fine and noone complains ;)

Give me some feedback if you can, would be much appreciated!

The EX-30 is built on the exact same Geely platform as the Smart #1, which is available at an excellent price from Arnold Clark. In my option it’s much nicer inside than the Volvo, with a much larger screen. Software is OK, but as I use wireless CarPlay which starts automatically, I rarely see it. The app works well, and so does the third party Hello # app which has even more options.

The main criticism for the Volvo is the lack of buttons and the speedo not under the eye of the driver. The Press had a field day on those topics and I think that they are downright dangerous if you wear varifocal lenses in your specs.
Volvo have blood on their hands after a woman drove head on into a car going in the facing direction whilst she tried to get the heated steering wheel switched on.

Did you actually read the article? she was driving a different car (XC40) that actually has a display in front of her face. I think the car wasn't the main problem there, she would've done that in many other cars.

The EX30 is very much an i3 if the i3 was developed a bit more by BMW. 69 kWh battery,RWD, compact shape. Not as light as no CFRP cell but you get my point. We have had our EX30 LR Plus model since November. Just passed 12,000 miles including a Euro trip to France. A very fun car to drive and efficiency and range are impressive. Averaging 4-4.5mi/kWh for those miles. 3.5mi/kWh in winter. We got almost ÂŁ10k off when we got our delivery miles model, as Volvo were doing mega deals!
The software has improved markedly but can still be glitchy! For example it now opens with our iPhones or Apple Watches but sometimes it will not open...for a few seconds, for example. Not the best when it's pissing down with rain. It should also automatically link with Apple CarPlay wirelessly when you get in the car but 90% of the time either my wife or I have to re-connect it manually via the menu as it does to recognise our phones. But then at other times it all works seamlessly. A bit annoying. The ADAS stuff and speed warnings etc are annoying but that is the same with all new cars and can be turned off via the main menu.
Heated steering wheel comes on automatically at an external temp of 10 degC or under. A nice touch.
Would have preferred the Ultra trim model (pano roof,360 deg cameras instead of just rear view camera,22kW AC charging) but none available when we got ours but those still had massive discounts at that time.

Dont get the comparison an i3 at all. The EX30 is about 10cm wider, heavier, traditional steel construction and has far less physical controls. Nothing like an i3 at all. The only similarity is theyre both rear wheel drive.

There are many cars with touchscreen controls and yet not many cases like the one above, where clearly a driver was the issue more than the car.
I've used the touch screen on my bmw 5 whilst driving it many times and so far no deaths.

I don't know which motoring press crucified the EX30, i don't classify the mirror as press. It's a dogshit tabloid.

Can we now get back to the topic, which was, how is EX30 software doing after a year?
