I AM THE LAW!!....sorry, Judge Dread moment there .
As a Kia Soul 30kwh owner (which I still love after 14 months - which is a first!!), I like this as a concept - shame they'll shelve some of the more interesting ideas such as remote control roof rack, the bonnet solar panel and the self-contained table tennis table/area.
But!!! £55k!! I am soooo poor 😂😂😂

I think I am looking at a future 'NCAP Zero' to join the Zoe... maybe they will improve on the torsional strength with a little reinforcement before they release it?

The short videos of it testing make it look like a really excellent car. I love my Ioniq 5 and would love the extra height and space of the EV9. Unfortunately I think this will just be too wide for our narrow lanes in Devon UK

Depends on what each user case is. I’m a van driver by day and don’t mind the size of it. I have a growing family and a disabled son who would love the extra space. I’d love to get one if I could afford it. My wife would hate to park it though so there’s that.

If I was single I definitely wouldn’t get one. Obviously each person will have different needs.

I'm fairly tempted by one, although I loathe 4x4s and would have to have a serious talk with myself about what I had done! It probably is too big though, as although we would have a small city car for local trips, I would end up using it sometimes locally.

Where it would excel is long family trips, into europe, camping, tip trips etc. But maybe there'll be something between an ev6 and ev9 coming along?

Edit: Looks like that's the ev7.

I’d love an EV with the size, practicality, quality, and 7 seats of my old BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer. I really like my new Kia Niro EV, but it’s not quite as practical as my old BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer, which wasn’t a huge tank to drive, and didn’t cost the earth, unlike most other 7-seaters these days. The two seats at the back weren’t suitable for tall adults for long journeys, but they were fine for the kids or a small adult

Is it a 6 or 7 seat car? Looking at that video @fisnik has posted, when he's sitting in the back row it looks like you can comfortably sit two adults but it's a bit of a stretch to say it will seat three. It might be fine for small children. Perhaps it'll be 3 across in the middle row if you don't upgrade to seats that turn right round?

One thing I don't like on my EV6 is the door handles which pop out but are only connected at one point to the door. I've frequently misgripped the door handle, almost breaking fingernails. So it's good to see they have improved them in the EV9 video by making them a more solid grip handle with two points connected to the door.

The one in the video is a six seater and they swivel. You can specify the option for f seven seater with three seats in the second row. I assume they won’t swivel then.

The thing with the EV9 is that whilst it is stupidly massive and unrealistic to be driven on most UK roads, it signposts where Kia is taking the EVx models with regards to design, technology, philosophy, etc.

From the premiere release video from Kia on YT, I found a lot to like in terms of these areas.

Sure the EV9 is something I'd never own nor would I want to. But it's my hope that the remainder of the EVs Kia will produce between now and 2027 will have aspects of this trickle down across the entire range.
Indeed I'd see any EV6 mid-life facelift would likely include some of these sorts of improvements.

Kia has a bright future for EVs if they can deliver these sorts of capabilities but in a more realistic package for the European market.

They've already revealed the EV5, which will be a "mini-me" 4/5-seater version of the EV9

Roads in the UK have to be certain widths, but that is only true for more recent road building. That means the recent minimum of 4.1m width to allow a vehicle to pass a parked vehicle is difficult when either vehicle is the size of the EV9 or say a Range Rover as they're over 2m wide before wing mirrors.

Cars have been getting wide year-on-year it seems. This is why many of us can't put our cars in the garage as they don't fit.

Anyone is free to buy whatever they want that fits their lifestyle, requirements and budget. I just don't expect there to be a large order book in the UK as the majority just don't need a vehicle of that size, nor can they probably ever afford one given the pricing the EV9 is targetting.
