Kona in a "sticky" situation!

The other week I reverse parked my Kona Gen 2 in a small carpark. Space was tight so I backed up close to a short wall.

Then I remembered I needed a bag from the boot (trunk) so pressed the button and the lid opened. Unfortunately, I hadn't noticed the overhanging bushes and there was some unpleasant screeching noises as the lid pushed up through the branches.

However, when I tried to close the boot lid I discovered the branches were quite substantial and it wouldn't push through.

No problem, I thought, I'll move the car forward. Err! "Computer says no!".

So, I'm stuck!

In the end I managed to wrestle with the bushes enough while closing the lid again but it was all rather undignified! The car is unhelpfully smart!

Occasionally, though, I might want to drive with the boot lid part open.
Does anyone know if that feature can be overridden?
