Saw this on the Kia website today. My e-Niro 4 definitely doesn't move into spaces in other lanes!

Possibly. The main thing that annoys me is that there are different specs in different countries. That wouldn't be so bad except the UK specs don't get different or alternative specs, mostly minus specs c/w other countries e.g. no blue trim, no tilting side mirrors in reverse, no panic alarm on fob, no blind spot warning, no 2 step door locking, single reverse light, etc.

I can’t believe the single reverse light thing. It’s outrageous for a £36k car to only have single reversing light (which is apparently pretty feeble in its light output anyway)! I wonder why they do stuff like this. Surely the cost saving is minuscule? One would think it would benefit the factory if they could standardise more for different country markets. I haven’t ordered yet, but it’s the little stuff like this that still makes me hesitant.

I get why they cut or some of the toys and why they did a single spec on the 1st edition to an extent.

Get the car on the market under a price point.

Look at Tesla who promised the base level model 3 (which I still don't think exists) would be $35k which would have made it ~£30k dependent on exchange rates and taxes. Instead when they opened the order book in the UK the car started at £42k.

Oh yes, so it only has one light, so you absolutely should cancel your order, it's an outrage, write to your local MP or maybe start an online petition against Kia, demanding a second reversing light.

Seriously ? If you're still looking to contact an MP, I'm sure the Monster Raving Loony Party would love to run with that for the next election 😂😂

When I was working, my company had an order from Ford for a very few, prototype, polymer, gearbox components (our speciality, high quality, low run, specialist mouldings).

They told us what they would pay per component, no haggling, no payment for tooling, and they had the right to cancel the order up to loading their lorry. The price was given to a thousandth of a penny, that is how accurate they price everything.

A one penny item at source might add £3 or more to the final price.

Everything must be paid for including R&D, warranties etc. It all adds up!

My experience is somewhat different. Literally all the cars I’ve ever had (and there have been a good few) which had reversing lights and high intensity rear fog lights have had 2 of each. I wouldn’t mind a single rear fog light as I think that’s actually better as they don’t then wash out the brake lights as much.

However, I need good reversing lights to get down my driveway at night. One feeble one won’t do it I’m sure. The cost of a yard of cable and a bulb holder and bulb in the general scheme of things on this car is surely irrelevant. If they can do it for other markets, why not UK?

I would swap auto headlights, auto wipers, follow me headlights, electric parking brake etc etc any day. I don’t like any of those features. I must be a bit old school lol. I see now they added an expensive motorised sunroof on the 4+ (that must be expensive to make surely?). Who needs a sunroof when you have great AC system? Why add all these gimmicks yet skimp on a cheap but important function like safely seeing where your going whilst night reversing? I just don’t get it.
