I will sleep tonight…..the quality might be impaired as there’s a big family curry booked locally.
I guess the car will be well ‘christened’ tomorrow 🫣👃💨
Just make sure you have the vegan curry to keep that Tesla leather honest.

Just off the phone with LV.
LR RWD still not in their database so they insured me based on LR AWD with the note it is actually LR RWD until they get the database sorted.
My current policy ends on 30/10 so they quoted me £28.85 extra for switching from my '70' plate ID.3. If I to insure the Tesla for the whole year today it would've been £540.72 which taking into account more powerful trim (and my not-necessarily-good-at-NCD :p wife as named driver) is not bad premium in current insurance climate. So for once I did not hesitate to use my card ;)

Should have insured as RWD not dual motor, surely the risk is associated with performance not battery capacity. Still a good outcome…..but I always want ’best’ 🤣

Btw….I tried to get EV DB to include the LR RWD, they won’t as it’s ‘not available to order’ only ‘inventory’.
Anyone feel inclined can I suggest others try…….when it comes to moving on we want this to be visible to others so they believe us!

That's exactly what I said to the lady on the phone: it is RWD so (300ish bhp) car just with bigger battery and LR AWD is 500ish bhp car. So I'm paying for potentially higher risk.
But on the other side better to have it covered against more expensive car (LR AWD) than the one below your actual value (RWD) and for 28 quid I wasn't bothered. Hopefully database is updated by end of Oct when my policy is up for renewal.

Might be all M3 related but I’ll post here to start. Mrs Beefy reversed off the drive this morning and what sounded like some brake squeal occurred. I’ve read about this somewhere before but didn‘t expect it on a 650 mile old car. Not going to impress the neighbours with that too much.

May just need a bit of bedding in. 650 miles in a EV/Tesla is like 65 miles in an ICE when it comes to brake use so they’re effectively brand new.

There are guides on how to bed in brake pads but I think the basics are to just do a few braking events (but not totally stopping) from say 70 to 30 where it’s safe to do so.

Thanks, I think the other cars with this issue had quite a few miles on them so was thinking not a bedding in issue. Plus I’ve not had it in 5 other new EVs in 11 years.

I currently have a pre-LFP 2021 model SR+ which does 180-200 miles on a full charge at motorway speeds. The 0% finance offer is kinda tempting. Can anyone answer a few questions?

1. What's the real range like at motorway speeds?
2. Where are the UK market versions built?
3. Do they have LFP batteries?
4. Do wireless phone charging and heated steering wheel come as standard?

Thanks

The M3 LR RWD has the best range of any M3, there’s aren’t that many owners about reporting range but 300 miles should be obtainable, and even in winter I’d expect 275 miles. If your idea of motorway speeds is 80 mph, it will be lower.

All UK cars are China built

The LR mode’s don’t have LFP batteries. They’re the BT43 which is the LG Chem M50 79kWh battery with 2170 NMC cells, coded 5L

Yes, all M3 now have 2 charge pads, heated steering wheel. 5 heated seats and the heat pump.

Some addtional info here as EV Database just added TM3 LR RWD:

Buy an id3 with 82kWh battery. Same range, cheaper to buy, cheaper to insure.
Hmm, I just moved from ID.3 (albeit 58kWh) and I was actually considering ID.3 Pro S so I'm afraid I could easily argue.
Range of 77kWh ID.3 (82kWh is gross capacity) is less than TM3 LR RWD (341 vs 385 WLTP miles respectively).
New facelifted ID.3 is more expensive (RRP is £ 48,595), even the pre-facelift models were around £41k (and that's without heat pump that's extra).
Insurance depends on various circumstances. My switch from ID.3 to TM3 was £28 (and thats with £15 admin fee) for 2 months until my policy renewal.

Any LR RWD owners able to confirm footwell lights, I know it shouldn’t have them but it shouldn’t have fog lights either yet it does
There are footwell lights but no ambient lights.

Yep also confirm that RWD LR has footwell lights, but I dont like em so just turn em off in settings. And yes front fogs too.

We know Tesla insurance is a subject of its own but throw a rare model into the equation and the options seem very limited!
I looked into insurance earlier. Technically, I've cancelled my order, but Tesla are treating me like I matter, which is more than they did last time round, and as they're doing their best to keep me interested I'm presently dithering.

Anyway, Quotemehappy (An Aviva subsidiary, I believe) have the LR RWD available in its selection of vehicles, and my policy goes up to a surprisingly cheap £386. I only have to pay an extra £60 to see the policy up to renewal. Anyone struggling with insurance might want to give them a look ?

I really can't decide whether I actually want a new M3. On the face of it it's a great deal, and the numbers stack up, esp as I've several hundred solar panels so no significant running costs at all. I'm just happy driving the sort of car I can reverse into a bollard in and putting a massive dent in its bumper won't ruin my week. Not that I make a habit of reversing into bollards, but you get the point?

had a quote from the just now, 1600 a year, 50 year old male, full ncb, clean licence. 🤔

Wow. I'm not sure why mine is so cheap in comparison. I do live out in the sticks, that could be a factor, but Quotemehappy have always given us great value, I don't know why. We had our Outlander PHEV insured for £180 per year, and got £40 cashback.
