If plan is to keep less than 4 years I would say just PAYG for any maint, if longer 5 year service plan better value

 

I've just taken a 2 year lease with 10k per year.

My maintenance package including tyres is £18.40 a month.


You will need a service every 19,000 miles - so every year if you plan on 25k per year.

 

Don't take maintenance but buy the service pack and invest in a set of winter wheels and tyres which will still have value at the end of the lease.

 

I was thinking this way funny enough. I have had winter wheels and tyres on all our cars since 2010 on a bmw 320i se and that set is still road legal as not fitted last winter was to warm.

 

If you get a car on PCH will bmw still sell you a service pack?

 

Yes. The lease company said it can be ordered at the same time as the car but invoiced directly to me separately by the bmw dealer.

 

So I have a quote for an new i3 REx with and without maintenance for 3 years and 25k miles p/a.

The difference with maintenance is £70 p/m which on a 6 + 35 basis is a extra 2.5k ish over 3 years.

Seems like you are being charged a lot for maintenance. (maybe because of your higher mileage). My BMW dealer charged just £18 per month for it (10k miles per year) ...and given that it includes tyres/punctures etc, I thought that it was worth it at that price.

 

It seems the cost of maintenance scales up with the value / spec of the car. This is a rip off. Why does and I3 rex with 4 options cost more to service and run than a base i3 Rex ? Mileage I understand, but also 2.5 x the miles does not equal 2.5 x the cost, more like 4 x the cost.

Rip off.

 

My last service cost £360, servicing is every 2 years or condition based. Pricing subject to change yada yada.

 

@volt69 get the BMW service pack - its fixed price. I suspect the difference in price in the PCH is a ruse for the lessor to make a little more margin.
