Seat Mii electric - pre-warm

I have just bought a Seat Mii electric (ex-demonstrator) and I'm loving it. There isn't a forum for the Mii, so I'm afraid I have to use the VW e-up forum (as it is basically the same car). Sorry :-(

Now the cold weather has started (I live in Northumberland), having the car automatically warm up before leaving is really useful. I have Seat Connect working, so can do this remotely which is handy - I also have a PodPoint charging point, so I can get a decent amount of power to the car.

I understand that the Seat Connect thing is a short 'trial' (possibly a year, so I only have 3 months left) and after that I would have to pay an annual charge. It is a useful tool, but to be honest, paying annually is just a rip off and isn't going to happen. The only thing I find really useful is being able to start pre-heating the car remotely for a short while before leaving, on cold days. However useful that is, it isn't worth an annual charge.

So my question is - can I go to the car and start the preheat thing - and then walk away, leaving the car to preheat? Preferably without leaving the car keys in the car and the car unlocked? If it can be done remotely, surely there is a way to do it non-remotely?

Many thanks for any help anyone is able to give.

An owner may be able to help, but another option long term would be to buy OVMS which costs about ÂŁ200 to buy and a couple of pounds a month for the 4g

But would let you view status of charge, preheat, location etc all from your phone

Also coming is a link between OVMS and A better route planner which means ABRP can see your current charge level and adjust automatically to advise when you should stop which would be a neat feature for long range drives

So sorry about not coming back to you - I didn't seem to get the email alert telling me there was a message.

Yes, The connection and app eventually worked. I use it quite a lot - although I wouldn't pay money for the service!

No, remote locking and unlocking don't work. I think I looked it up and it doesn't apply to the Mii electric?
Lock and unlock your vehicle.*
