The latest software update arrived on my 2024 Kona yesterday, it seems to also be downloadable from update.hyundai.com for any models 2020 or newer. So far as I can see the main difference is that it now uses Google to search for destinations. That means it gives you a heck of a lot more information about the destination (the side panel is scrollable for photos and information such as accessibility) and I'm hopeful it will also get the addresses less badly wrong than the old version sometimes did. The update also claims a major map update but I haven't yet noticed any changes round me.

Good question. I'd need to check Google Maps to see how much of that info in the panel it gives you when running in Android Auto.

The one thing the Hyundai Nav definitely gives that Google Maps doesn't [yet] is integration with the charge level, in particular conditioning the battery before you arrive at a charger. Google Maps will search for chargers along a route but it's not doing that with any knowledge of where on the route to search. So for a long journey it's worth using Hyundai for that. On the other hand I've always trusted Waze/Google Maps traffic info a bit more.
