A Better Route Planner: How accurate is it?

So, that's my question. I'm considering a 77kwh ID3/Cupra Born. I've been using A Better Route Planner in order to find out the real range of the car. For those of you who also use this website/app and already own an EV, how accurate do you think the consumption figures are?
In fair weather, the consumptions stated on the app matched the different range tests I have seen on youtube quite well. However, in cold temperatures and rainy weather, the consumption figures on the app increase just slightly (less than 10%) wheras on the range tests I can see on Youtube the consumption increase is quite more noticeable (like 30% more).
What are your thoughts on the app's accuracy?

That's good to know, thanks. I thought ABRP was being too optimistic regarding cold weather driving. Maybe the thing here is that the car on Youtube didn't feature the heat pump. I've just realized if I select an ID3 with no heat pump on ABRP the consumption in cold weather rises significantly, being quite close to that on the Youtube tests. Is a heat pump actually so effective?

As others have implied: it doesn't matter how accurate ABRP is initially. You can customise it with your own figures, something you are comfortable you can manage.

Or even use the OBDII reader for "live" link.

The consumption estimate accuracy varies by car, as some cars are well characterized and some are less so.

I'm aware of several other issues, such as not taking density/altitude into account. Doesn't matter much if you are near sea level, of course. But a noticeable sized error in Colorado, as the air is much thinner. Caravans aka RV trailers are not handled correctly. Significant only if you need to tow something. And charging stop times are often just wrong.

I've never seen, much less driven an ID3. Not being sold in the USA. So I can have no opinion on the accuracy of this specific car.

As a general comment, ABRP usually seems conservative. I usually do better in the Audi e-tron than estimated when using the stock consumption number.

In my experience if you drive at above the speed limit slightly, it will be accurate. If you drive below or at, it is pessimistic, and will have you arriving at each charger a little higher than estimated. On the flip side, the charging times are somewhat optimistic, especially for the ID.3 where it seems to assume a pre-heated battery - the ID.3 and Born do not have any battery pre-heat function for rapids yet (maybe coming in v3.5, but no guarantee.) However there the optimism only costs a few minutes so it's not a big deal.

edit: whoops... old thread
