The last two days Android Auto drops out and Android Auto logo disappears from home screen and is replaced by Phone Projection logo and the message in picture below
is displayed.
The same OEM Samsung cable working for months is firmly plugged in (and is never removed.) Both our Samsung phones have the same problems with Android Auto
I seem to recall that somewhere here had Niro USB cabling repaired?

I've now tried four connectors and seen the same problem, which is usually associated with a bump in the road... Kia said they couldn't find a fault. I've tried my wife's phone as well, and it glitched a couple of times with that. I'll be taking it back to the dealers and insisting they fix it.

Whilst Kia has not formally admitted it, there is clearly a problem with the USB data port in the new Niro (all types, not just EV).

It is prone to disconnects for Android Auto but also for audio playback from USB stick.

The problem appears to be partly related to bumps from the road, partly from sideways movement going around roundabouts, but is also affected by temperature and humidity within the cabin.

I spoke with the Service Manager at my dealership and they asked me to keep an eye on it. It's been intermittently bad, and sometimes completely unusable.

What was interesting was he said they had customer complaints about the USB not just for the new Niro (all types), but also for the new Sportage. Suggesting they have a bigger issue on their hands, which as I say they don't seem to have owned up to yet...

Happens on Sportage and Hyundai Ioniq in my experience.
