Re the above post, it's 12 days since I left the car with the dealer and they have just phoned to say that my EV6 is ready for collection. As suspected it was an ICCU failure.
Looks like they have the parts supply problem under control now. That at least gives some comfort. Now I just hope, if mine should give up the ghost, that it doesn't do so during one of the road trips I have planned for this summer.

Very encouraging to hear 12-day turnaround times. Here's my timeline just for the record:
Feb 24th - ICCU bit the dust
Mar 18th - earliest any dealer could accept the car to their forecourt (I called every dealer in a 150-mile radius)
May 9th - picked up repaired car
Overall, this was 2 months and 2 weeks. The particularly painful period was between breakdown and the car getting to the dealer. Once the car was diagnosed, I got a hire car which kept us going.

I did listen to previous posts and others' suggestions and emailed Kia about extending the car's warranty by the period that I did not have access to the vehicle but they have refused. I didn't have high hopes for that, of course, but writing here to let others know my experience.

I am curious about your experiences with the 12V light on the dash. I've had my car for nearly 3 years now and driven it over 20k miles. I have never once seen the orange 12V light on the dash that's supposed to come on when the HV battery is charging the 12V. Does your light come on regularly? After having spent this long driving my car, I would have expected to see the light come on at least once -- especially since other people seem to see it multiple times a day.

DrE are you talking about a warning light within the instrument panel? If you are looking for a light on the top of the dash then I believe European spec cars dont get it. The thumbnail size dome on top of dash is a light sensor. This info from my dealer though they have been known to be ill informed.

Thanks for this. I was stupidly thinking that I did have that light on the top of the dash! 🤦‍♂️

Hello

seems that it is my turn to enjoy the ICCU fun

mine manifested as a popping home charger ; I live in Somerset, nearest Kia dealer in Bath.

Phoned them - “we can see you at the end of September “ flipping heck - I’m in early June ! Kia Bristol offered first some time in July then found yesterday 20 June for me

nobody seemed to be aware of the ICCU issue as a “thing” and were casting aspersions at my home power supply - took quite a bit to get the garage booking person to accept that a failure in home charging is something for the garage to even look at (“if it charges at DC place then then it is definitely a problem with your home power supply and not our problem “)

at end of yesterday, Kia tell me they need to keep car “probably for two weeks” as they have raised a tech case with Kia They don’t do loan cars. They only have two loan cars and they are both in long term loans. I was very polite and left;

lady came running out of Kia to say they just had one of their three loan cars (that they don’t loan out ) and I can have it for the weekend . “We normally charge £25 per day but I won’t charge you that) … which was a nice gesture although a little confusing with them not doing loan cars.

I am another one on the journey

Martin J

That's a very fast turnaround time.

It is of course the least Kia could do: make sure that spare parts are available quickly.

The actual thing they should do is redesign the damn ICCU and make sure it is made with quality components and pre-emptively replace each and every one of them.

Aye to that ; with a note that the ICCU recalls were both done first , with the replacement required even though the recall actions were complete. Perhaps the recall actions are supposed to reduce or remove the possibility of the failure of the ICCU which had already occurred for mine

Yes. That is exactly the reason. The updated firmware is meant to gradually ramp up / down the voltage curve when the 12v battery is charged. Also, it forces the ICCU to be cooled when AC charging is going on.

Hi all, I'm returning to this thread in hopes of getting your views on replacing my 12V. I have been considering changing the original 12V on my car. Dealer says nothing wrong with it and that after they replaced the ICCU, it all charged up fine. But I can't help but feel that it discharged completely when I had the ICCU issue (so much so that I had to use my booster to open and close the boot) and that it's only a matter of time before my 3-year-old 12V dies on me.

Anyway, have any of you replaced yours? If so, did you go with an AGM? Which one? I'm thinking of replacing it myself but don't want Kia to turn around and say I voided the warranty by having done so.

Views very welcome.

Do you still have the jump starter in the car at all times?

If yes, don't worry about the aux battery.

Next, has the aux 12V battery failed only once, i.e. fully discharged? If yes, don't worry about it. Change the battery once it has failed about 3 times, and/or can no longer keep charge for more than a week.

All of that said, piece of mind is priceless. Assuming you are concerned about it as it has failed you once, it might be a good idea just to go ahead and get a brand new 12v battery.

My battery went flat after three years. Got replaced and dealer said that three years is “expected “

then a few weeks later, my ICCU failed

Hi everyone,
Having read the title, I know some of you are thinking "yet another one of these posts" but I figured I would keep a record of my experience with ICCU failure and repair here in case it helps someone. And I'm sure I will have questions along the way (I already do! see below...), so perhaps I could pose these here and get your views and experiences at the same time. I am in the UK, by the way, and I have seen lots of different experiences in the US on various forums. I have not seen as many detailed accounts of people's experiences in the UK (probably my bad Googling, to be honest) so if you know of some, please point me in the right direction.

My EV6 gave the usual error messages and lost power about 2 weeks ago. I called every dealer within reasonable distance. Noone could accept the car to their forecourt when this happened. Some said not before May. The earliest slot I could find is to drop the car off w/b March 17th, but it's unclear when they'll actually look at the car and diagnose the issue.

Until diagnosis is done, I obviously can't get a courtesy car from Kia. I am hoping, though, that after diagnosis, if the parts are backordered and will take a while to arrive, Kia will offer me a courtesy car free of charge. My understanding is that this is not guaranteed. The dealer has certainly said I need to pay a daily fee (ÂŁ12 per day, I believe) for the courtesy car. What I don't yet know is what this daily fee covers. Is it for (comprehensive) insurance? What have your experiences been? Do I need to worry about arranging insurance on my own? My own insurance might cover me on a 3rd party basis but that makes me nervous if I'll be using the courtesy car for weeks.

More generally, what have your experience been (in the UK) with getting a free courtesy car while the car is in repair? Would it be unreasonable to ask for an equivalent car if there will be a multi-week wait? Does anyone have experiences with that side of things?

Thanks in advance!
Here is my experience of the Kia network.
5th November 2024 I took delivery of my new company car, KIA EV6 GT Line S, it was the facelift model and I loved it, still do, it was everything I had hoped.
Everyone was looking and asking questions.
Little did I know that 20 hrs, 60 miles, later it would be on the back of an RAC truck going to a local dealer with the ICCU Issue.
I called on a few dealers close by and was looking at a few weeks wait to get u diagnosis, wasn't impressed, but then I called one who could take it in that day and do the diagnosis next Day. We arrived at the dealership, got everything booked in and asked about a courtesy car. The look of horror was amazing. You would think I had asked to eat the liver of their first born. At this point I was in no mood for an argument so asked to be kept up to date on the diagnosis and that I'm would contact Kia regarding a courtesy car. Called Kia and to be honest, they couldn't have cared less.
After a week I finally got Kia to agree to a car while mine was repaired.
I had no updates from the dealer, at any point. All I knew was part on back order.
On the 29th November I got the car back.
Cut to Last Wednesday 6th August 2025. My partner had just had a new Cupra Born VZ, the dogs needed to go to the groomers so could we swap cars, I had my boot fully dog proofed.
Got a call at around 1pm to say couldn't move the car. I came home and to my horror, check electric vehicle systems. Great.
RAC again full lift required etc ring round dealers.
I had a range of dates dealers could take it, from 4th September to 8th October, just to diagnose.
I did find a dealer who had just had a slot come free today, 14th August.
So today she's back in ICU.
This dealer was a totally different ball game. I asked about a car and the lady said she would speak to, KIA once we k we diagnosis. At 5pm I had my first update, more than I had last time, that they were still working on diagnosis.
From what I have read in various places the availability of parts is far better so hopefully it will be sorted quicker, so fingers crossed, I'll keep you posted.
