AutoHold

One month with my Enyaq, and this AutoHold function is beginning to annoy me. For slow manoeuvres in confined parking areas, it can be a bit jerky, especially in reverse... I'm not the only one to have remarked on this in the forum.
But there is no easy way to turn it off: you have to go to the main 'car' menu and then find 'brakes'. When it is turned off, it will creep forward (or backwards if you select reverse) unless you have your foot on the brake, just like a standard ICE automatic car or indeed my Renault Zoe. But there's no respite from keeping your foot on the brake pedal with the AutoHold disabled: to my horror, I have just discovered that flicking up the little 'handbrake' paddle turns the car off completely... it's the same as hitting the Stop button on the steering column. What were Skoda thinking of?? I hope in the future they can update the software to make the handbrake lever work as a handbrake and not as an OFF button! :(

Not an Enyaq, but we found similar when we tested an ID3.

With Auto Hold on manoeuvring in tight spaces was quite jerky, and much easier with Auto Hold off.

With Auto Hold off engaging the parking brake seemed to reset the car, so you then needed to switch the selector to drive or reverse to move off again.

Arguably no big deal, but just feels like a retrograde step compared to my GTE.

I think I saw in one of the enyaq promo videos about the info system that you can define a favourite button function. The favourite stays displayed all the time I think. Skoda actually suggested in the video making the auto hold button a favourite so you can quickly toggle it on/off. So it looks like they know the function is jerky but haven't fixed it.

You can make the 'Vehicle' icon a favourite, but not AutoHold as far as I can see. Is there anyone out there who has found a way??

To turn AutoHold on or off, starting from the Home Screen you need to do six screen manipulations: Tap Menu>Vehicle>Exterior>swipe-left>Brakes>AutoHold toggle.
You can get it down to 4 manipulations by having 'Vehicle' as a short-cut on the Home Screen and once you've hit on 'Exterior' in the Vehicle menu, it will stay there as the default option.

With AutoHold off, if you don't want to keep seeing the 'Goodbye' message every time you lift up the 'handbrake' lever, (whereupon you lose your satnav map and have to depress the brake and select D to start moving again) you can also put the handbrake on by selecting N. This then brings up the transient screens shown in the images below, before switching back to the normal screen after a few seconds. Yuk!!

The 'handbrake' lever is identical to the 'stop/start' button on the steering column, a button which in itself is redundant as you can simply start the car by getting in it and depressing the brake, and the car stops as soon as you open the driver's door to get out. I now never use the stop/start button.

Thanks Flying hedgehog. I totally agree, it would be better to have a physical button - I would like to see the useless paddle buttons that control the regenerative braking level (which turns back to automatic as soon as you hit the throttle) customisable to be able to assign a task of one's choosing. Also, with the AutoHold shortcut button situated as it is on the main screen, the front-seat passenger also has access... a bit dangerous if you ask me if the passenger can also control how the brakes work. Do you think anyone at Skoda is reading stuff on these forums? - I hope so.
