Just had the bluelink app update and seen that I have the pro version for 6 months.

Just been trying to see why I would want to pay for it beyond that.

I can't see any compelling reason.

Bluelink Lite:
Essential Features: Includes over-the-air updates for the vehicle system, connected routing (including smart EV routing), and a digital key.
Connectivity: Provides basic connectivity for navigation, vehicle updates, and convenience features.
Complementary Period: Often comes with a 10-year complimentary period for all new cars.

Bluelink Pro:
Enhanced Features:
Offers all features of Bluelink Lite, plus streaming capabilities and OTA updates for the infotainment system.
Complete Connected Experience:
Provides a more comprehensive connected driving experience with features beyond basic connectivity.

Complementary Period:
Typically comes with a 6-month free trial for all new cars, with a monthly fee thereafter.

I would say that your car should be coming with the complimentary 3 years subscription? They can't change that half way...

But yes, new cars will come with only 6 months Pro. But no idea how long for the Lite....

10 years for Lite.

And the updated app shows 6 months for Pro.

Can anyone explain the benefits of Pro?

I guess I will find out in 6 months time ..

So trying to work out the differences before paying for the year:

It seems Pro has music streaming from Amazon (booo) and SoundCloud ? Plus "Advanced Infotainment updates"

The rest is available in Lite for a third of the price.

As I have Pro now and can't seem to stream SoundCloud it is only worth the extra if the "Advanced Infotainment updates" are actually a thing. Anyone know what these updates may be, because my 2021 Ionic 5 hasn't had any updates since September 2024 according to the screen in the car !!

And I'm currently on the free trial Pro app version.

Also, anyone activated the Phone Entry option because I can't find anything about it in my app or on the car. Is this only for new 5s ?? Or just the 6 maybe ??

Yeah, I'm also questioning the steep price difference. I want OTA updates for maps etc, so if Pro is the only one delivering that I'll have to bite the bullet, but it would be nice to know what the actual difference is between "System updates that bring the latest functionality to Maps and Advanced Infotainment " and "Vehicle System updates".

The Bluelink app it's about as clear as mud on this !!

The description of Lite does not mention OTA updates, but in the description of Plus it says "weather and traffic info" plus the Lite services like OTA updates and online Voice control.

The Pro lists "Advanced Infotainment updates" and streaming Amazon and SoundCloud plus the Plus services like EV routing in maps. And then the stuff from Lite !

This is all translated from my app in french.

Each service has a "More info" link, but clicking it gives you exactly the same info, but with a purchase button !!

I'm thinking I'll go for Plus, unless someone can explain what these mythical "Advanced Infotainment updates" actually may be ?

Free for 10 years for 2024 and later cars.

Very useful link thanks, and the extra detail may have pushed me towards Pro as the OTA updates include Infotainment and not just vehicle.

But then there's the t&cs that say "depending on vehicle capabilities/ hardware"

So now the question is what can my 2021 Ionic 5 be updated with ?? I'm guessing that is impossible to know ?? Is this a Tesla Intel vs AMD situation ?
