CarPlay issues in Corsa-e

I have had a 2022 Corsa-e for about a month now, and CarPlay used to work flawlessly. A couple of days ago CarPlay just stopped working (icon greyed out in the Apps screen). I've been through all the troubleshooting steps that Apple and various sources list (I've reset vehicle to factory settings, restarted the phone, updated the phone's software tried different cables, deleted and re-added the car to the phone, allowed while phone locked etc). It won't work on my partner's much newer iPhone either.

The strange thing is, I can get it to work by turning off the car, getting out, locking it, unlocking it again, getting in, plugging in the phone, then pressing start on the car and everything works perfectly. If I then unplug the phone and try to plug it back in, nothing works at all. I can pair via Bluetooth, and the MyVauxhall app knows it's connected to the vehicle, so it seems to be just CarPlay via USB with the issue. Does anyone have any ideas? I have firmware version 43.04.27.52_NAC_r0 (2022-01-21) if that helps.

Just fixed the airdrop feature on my partners iPhone by turning off hotspotting. It could be something as simple as that.

Also check Siri is enabled, try with Bluetooth off/on/toggling it. (Maybe it's pairing via Bluetooth and that's somehow disabling CarPlay over USB?).
Try turning off Siri and reenabling.
Try forgetting the car in the CarPlay settings on iPhone and re-adding.

Good luck and let us know what worked (fingers crossed)

Some updates, the firmware is now the latest version and...still no improvement. I've tried all combinations of Bluetooth on/off Siri on/off, forget and re-add the car and still no luck. I've seen a few references to disconnecting the 12v battery, I'm not at all a car person...is this easy to do? Are there some instructions somewhere?

Another slight update, I've found I can reconnect to CarPlay without getting out/locking/leaving the car by holding down the "phone" button on the infotainment system for 5+ seconds. The system then reboots and CarPlay comes back, suggesting that this type of restart of the infotainment system does the same thing as completely turning off the car. If I then disconnect and reconnect the cable, CarPlay fails to reconnect.

Rebooting the system will do as a workaround for now, but I'd very much appreciate it if anyone has more ideas.
