Areas of the existing car park close to the McDonalds drive thru and the hotel are retained. Additional car parking is provided adjacent to this wrapping around the existing hotel, providing an increase of approximately 300 car parking spaces. Accessible parking provision is improved and a
large area is dedicated to electric charging parking spaces, to account for rapidly growing demand.
Need for EV Charging Spaces 5.33
The addition of 66 new EV car charging spaces, to provide a total provision of 70 EV car spaces on site is significant, the power supply has been secured by Moto for these spaces and their on site provision is contingent upon the wider reconfiguration and expansion of the Services. At present there is a lack of EV charging spaces on site and on the SRN as a whole.
The proposals will consist of the conversion of the existing Truck Stop facility to a formal MSA, serving the M56 and an extension of the Truck Stop. The main components of the scheme are a reconfiguration and expansion of the existing parking layout
The full development description is as follows: “Outline application for extension and conversion of existing Services to create Motorway Service Area off M56 and retained Truck Stop off M6, with works comprising demolition of truck wash; part‐removal of canopy to truck filling station; reconfiguration and extension of car parking (to provide up to 628 spaces), new coach parking (to provide up to 13 spaces), and caravan parking (to provide up to 17 spaces); extension of HGV parking layout (to provide up to 368 spaces); new service yard to amenity building; landscaping, infrastructure and ancillary works”
