OK, this is my first post in a series of three since my daughters car has 3 different problems, now reduced to two.
R90 2017 with 95000 kilometers on the odometer. Two weeks ago she made a 350 kilometers trip and aimed for two well planned charging stops. Car starts to charge at ok speed but the charging speed drops lower and lower. At the start it charges about one percent/ per minute (and that is around 22 kw, right?) But then...it gets lower and lower to about 3 kw. And thats in the span 20-60 % soc.

Bought a blutooth dongle and got Canze to figure out what is going on. Tried at different chargers and got almost 22 kw. Batterytemp 15 degrees. Tried about 20 minutes.

Then, when she went back home, same problem again. Shows time to charge like 2 hours and after a while it just shoots up to 6-7-8 hours.

Today, two weeks later, i did some new test, with Canze. Charger 22 kw (21,3) but car charges at 8-9 kw. The max batterycharge shows 9 kw. Batterytemp 10 degrees. Soc 55 %.

I have read that it should be a low noise from some fan in the rear right or a jet plane noise from under the hood? Nothing, not a sound anywhere except the whining that all zoes does.

Any suggestions what to check for?

I see on your other post the aircon compressor is not working - what could be happening (just a guess) that when the battery gets to a certain temp (especially on a 22kw charge) it might need to kick in the aircon compressor to chill air across the traction batteries to cool them down (batteries dont like overheating) so it could be detecting that batteries need cooling on the charge ,... but gets a message back saying compressor is not working , so rather than cut off the charge altogether and you get no charging at all it could be saying to the charger "OK carry on charging but charge at a lower rate because the car cannot cool the batteries" - thats what i am predicting is happening. Its all tied to the compressor / aircon system on the Zoe that relies on it working A1 so much in these Zoe's rather than other EV's , once your climate control has problems it has a knock on effect with your battery charging.

Hey again Andy!
Writing in this thread now since the problems with the car is somewhat linked together.
Took it for a charge today, outside temp 4, battery 7. Max charge power approx 7 kw. Directly when plugged in the fans somewhere in the rear started, to spread the temp. After about 20 minutes the temp went to 8 degrees and the fans stopped. Never heard them before but thats a good step forward.

Took it for a little ride and plugged in again , now with 9 degrees battery temp. No fans and 9 kw max charge, according to CanZe.

All this was in the span of 50-70 % soc. So, what factors does count for the maxium charge power? Batterytemp, Soc.....what else?

When I got 22 kw charging power a couple of weeks ago the batteries was about 15 degrees, when my daughter got real slow charging speed she had driven the car for over an hour in 130 km/h so probably to hot batteries for full charge power without the compressor cooling. Any idea what the span cold/hot for batterytemp is for not limiting charge at all?

I think now that it is all about that compressor. Broken compressor, blown fuse or to little refrigerator gas is the theories.

Have seen somewhere here charging daigram but cant fin it now...

Its a pretty intelligent system (when compressor and cooling are all working OK) - I personally would rather it reduce the charging rate rather than overheat / batteries catch on fire / damage the batteries long term by charging at a higher rate :)

Ok, yesterday I did some serious testing of the charging. And, to conclude it, below 10 degrees battery temp it limits the charging to 7-8-9 kW. Once the battery reaches 10 degrees it´s full speed charging (22 kW) up to 27 degrees. Thats probably where the compressor should start but since mine does not it limits the charging to 7 kw or lower. So, the charging works fine, it is the cooling that is whack. And about that one....I hear something clicking under the hood, like it is trying to start the compressor a few times and gives up. I think the compressor is stuck for some reason, maybe broken blades. Something for the Renault dealer to fix, under warranty.

Hi! I have an 2019 R90 with the exact same charging problem. When starting at a 22kw charger on almost empry battery it starts off saying 2h30 remaining time.. And 2 hours later, the remainig time fluctuates from 6 to 18 hours.... Updating every 30 second. Same issue on a 11kw charger.... Starts fine at 5h30, and then takes 10 hours to complete. I have no issue with the AC as far as I know. Anyone else?
