Have had issues with voice commands since mid afternoon yesterday and can't connect to Tesla App. Did usual restarts, checked Always Connected still ticked. Anyone else affected?

Does you car have LTE? If so, there is a known problem with connectivity drop-outs. I usually have to re-boot at least once a day. However, the other day driving down the M40 it would not come back despite resetting about 4-5 times. I had an interview at Stockley park so on the way home I dropped into WD. They kindly looked at it and updated the firmware. It's a bit better but still drops out.

Maybe one day they'll get it sorted

Well I didn't know that, thanks. I was using it like the Leaf, press once release then talk. Clearly most/all other car makers think thst's how it should work too.

I thought it's a bit limited anyway? Only responds to certain keywords?

So I've just been outside and had a chat with my car :) Yes, holding the button works, and the 'Phone' and 'Play' commands seemed to work ok but then they stopped - I discovered it was because the car had dropped the wifi connection to the house. So anyway, like all things Tesla related it seems to work as long as you're connected to the internet ;)

Bit of an update from the Facebook forum. It turns out that if your connected to WiFi for some (unknown) length of time, the car doesn't seem to switch back to the mobile data connection very easily. Tesla know about this issue and are working on it.

For the time being I have told the car to forget my home WiFi so we will see if this cures the problem for now.

Agree with above, but with mine, drive out of cell coverage and it doesn't always reconnect when back in range. I hope they get a fix soon as I have to reboot just about every day. (Parked half underground at night, no 3/4G and very weak wifi).

Just noticed another annoyance, with no 3/4G or wifi, you can't use the "Call" command even though bluetooth is connected. Message says "Not available at this time - No connectivity".

This whole dropped connection issue is starting to get on my t*ts now.:mad::mad:

Not sure I understand? If there is no 3G/4G signal what exact call are you going to make?

The voice recognition software is online in a big server somewhere not in the car. When you press the speak button it records and sends it over t'internet to the server which process the speech and then sends the decoded commands back to the car. No car signal, no voice processing.

You could always use the right scroll wheel :D

I had a major outage issue about two weeks ago, we were up at the yorkshire sculpture park and lost connectivity on the maps etc, I just put it down to poor signal, But after we left the park we drove for another 20 miles, with no connection.. So I when we stopped I rebooted both the consoles, and even did the power off for 10 mins thing.. yet nothing.. about two hours later we started our drive home and still nothing.. we did about 30 miles more in blackout, including about 20 miles of the M1 which I know has good coverage usually as I often listen to TuneIn... then all of a sudden it started working again..

Quick update. Tesla tried over air diagnosis while on wifi at work, no faults visible. They had car into Digbeth today. Sim card "corrupted" & trying to connect to Spanish signal. They wondered if I'd been to Spain and had it happen on return to UK. Nope - on way back from Manchester. All sorted and now connected - didn't notice until half way home but I now have LTE ! Great job Digbeth.
