After the test drive (mentioned on another thread) I had questions about servicing and prices etc. The salesman literally had no idea about EVs, electric charging or servicing but to be fair he would go and find out. "The more questions you ask me, the more I am going to learn" he said.

He came back to me to say that the servicing on the e-208 was 8000 miles or 1 year. I told him this could not be right and would be a bit of deal breaker for us as we do around 15,000 miles a year in each of our cars, and I did not see how an EV would need such frequent servicing. He re-iterated that it did seem frequent but as pricing was meant to be "About £100" for a service "as EV's don't need much doing to them" then it would still be cheap overall, which was a fair point I guess.

However he went to triple check and eventually came back with the official Peugeot Service Schedule for the e-208:

Initial Inspection Service at 8000 miles/1 year.
Then service intervals at 16,000 miles or every 2 years whichever is sooner. "Thats much better/more sensible" we both agreed!

Replacement of passenger compartment filter: Every 16,000 miles/2 years (Is that the pollen filter I am guessing?)
Replacement of brake fluid: Every 2 years.
Check of PH of coolant: 80,000 miles / 4 years. Then every 16,000 miles / 2 years.
Check of headlamp adjustment: 4 years. Then every 2 years

And that was it. I am sure this can or may change as time goes by. Just goes to show this is all new for the PSA group. Apart from mention of costing " about £100", nothing else confirmed and what it will all cost. That is where the car manufacturers are going to have to do some calculating as with uptake of EVs and dwindling ICE sales they will lose much of their revenue streams, on routine servicing and things that need replacing.

I see a dealer service as part of the warranty

luckily £60 is better than £400

I started servicing my Brabus myself when they changed me for a big service then told me all the extras needed on a big service (spark plugs, cabin filter etc) didn’t need replacing as I’d not covered the mileage since the last service.

when I asked why I paid £200 more this time they said “we check more stuff”

in the end they replaced the spark plugs as a gesture of good will - wtf

after that I serviced myself

EV nice new easy but can’t diy with a new car

Well after having the Rapid Charge update, they re-set our faulty dashboard service indicator. But looking on the app, it is still saying we were due a first service at 4,971 miles which we have now passed. AND that the car is also due it’s next service at 1 year or 9,942 miles and service after that at 2 years or 19,884 miles. It really boggles the mind how messed up the software and thinking is with the app.

The PSA cars sometimes had issues initiating a charge at public Rapid chargers using CCS. Seems to be ok since the update as used a few now without issue.
Perhaps you could inform the dealership that owners apps are still showing incorrect service schedules and mileages. This needs to be fed back to PSA HQ. Better coming from them than us. Seems difficult enough getting through to somebody competent enough.

Just a follow up on this thread. Our e-208 had its first inspection service today. 8,200 miles or so covered.
When booking it in last week, they quoted a price of £119 and also told me it would need an oil change and servicing was annually.( FFS!!)
Luckily for me we had it in WRITING when we put the car in for the charging update recently that the first service was quoted as £61.87. They found this somewhere on their system and then said they would “honour” that agreed price. Gee, Thanks!

Booked in for a “while you wait” service which took about 70 minutes. Car cleaned inside and out. Screen wash added. Have no idea what they would have done to the car as nothing needed doing. So that price and the time it took was just about acceptable...
But before leaving the service advisor told us the next service was due in 6 months!! She was informed that this was incorrect and then she looked somewhere else and came back and told us it was her mistake and that the next service was in fact due in 1 years time!
Couldn’t be arsed correcting her again. Seemingly nobody there knows anything even though they are meant to be the Service Advisors.
And the app still says the same thing. Service due annually. Also just realised in hindsight the car did not warn us via the dash display, that this inspection service was due. It used to previously when it thought the first service was due at 5000 miles but the dealership corrected this during the charging software update. Looks like they just wiped its memory of providing us with any service warnings!
But we have it in writing, from Peugeot UK Head Office, servicing, (when we bought the car) after the initial inspection service, is due every 2 years or 16,000 miles. Just find this whole thing tiring .

Mines due for first service at the end of next month. Not really worried about the price because that’s included in the subscription. I am interested in the While You Wait service if it’s only 70 minutes. Saves messing around with public transport or courtesy vehicles. Did they also do all the updates during that time as well? Particularly eager to get the one that improves charging speed.

I asked the dealer about servicing when ordering and he was less than convincing around the pricing but checked up on intervals and it matched a comment earlier in the thread: initial check at a year or 8000miles, whichever comes first, then 16k miles (didn’t mention timescale) followed by 32k, again no mention of time. When asked about cost I got some waffle around the first (8k) one costing “10% less than an ICE vehicle”. When I coughed at this he mentioned a service plan, dabbled about on the computer and came back with £11.09 a month. £62 odd sounds a whole lot better!

So the £11 / month should work if doing 16k per year? If not then it won’t work if the servicing is actually miles and not time based after that first one. Dunno, not properly looked into it yet as no vehicle yet.
What on earth can they be doing to justify £200+

The service interval in France is 12,500 km. This equates to 8k miles. Someone has taken this to be 8000 km and converted it to miles again, giving 4971 miles. If your service light comes on early, as mine has, you just ignore it. Or visit your local dealer and ask them to reset it if the little amber spanner bothers you.

Talking to the salesman in the Peugeot dealership the other day (we haven't ordered one yet) he said the 1 year/8000 service is an initial check to ensure everything is working as it should be and any updates are all installed. After then the regular service interval applies from the following year/8,000 and every 2 years after then or 16,000 miles, whichever first. The assumption seems to be the average 208/Corsa does 8,000 miles per year and if you do more then you will have to service more often.

So I dropped my e-208 GT off at Robins & Day this morning for it's Year 2 service (the car is two years old this week). The first service was after 12 months (2800 miles) now we are 24 months (5000 miles).

I was somewhat shocked to hear that I would be looking at a cost of around 320 quid when I collect it later (240 quid for the "core service" and 60 odd quid for the brake fluid change on top of that).... I had assumed that the 2nd year service was 240 quid because it included the brake fluid change but apparently not.

As far as I can tell the "core service" seems to be the application of several software downloads and a recall rectification.

When I go to collect it later I shall be asking for a full breakdown of what has been done. It's all a bit academic really as they've got us by the short hairs anyway since the battery warranty is now the most precious aspect of an EV and nobody dare stray away from main dealers as a result so we are pretty much hostages at this point......
