How do you have both front and rear fog lights on? Manual explains how to turn front or rear on but I haven't found out how to do both yet.

Er, I don't understand. The stalk on the Niro EV I have shows the off position in the middle, the top is the front fog light, and the bottom is the rear fog light.

So moving the switch from the middle to the top will turn on the front fog light.
Or moving the switch from the middle to the bottom will turn on the rear fog light.

I've not yet had the need to use the fog lights, so am asking from a point of no experience with Kia's implementation.

If say I've already turned on the rear fog light by moving it to the bottom, but then move it to the top to turn on the front fog light as well, surely that means it goes via the middle (i.e. off) so turns off the rear fog light as I do this?

It doesn't state the switch is a toggle. Instead, it uses the word switch, which has an off or on state.
So is it the case this is actually a toggle? You move it to the top and it turns on the front fog light. But it reverts back to the middle position as you do this, as @Mark_T stated. i.e. it is a sprung toggle and you need to take note of the dash information that shows the fog light as lit or not, as you can't tell from the status of the stalk position as it will always be in the middle (off) position.

I note the manual has a warning about how much power the fog lights take. Not sure why if they're LED ones (I'm assuming they are not bulbs).
Does anyone have any real-world information on the power draw when using fog lights?

No, the rear fog light doesn't go off until you push the switch down again. The centre position is not "off", it is just the resting state of the switch.
It doesn't state the switch is a toggle. Instead, it uses the word switch, which has an off or on state.
The precise definition of "switch" vs. toggle may be lost in the translation from Korean to English.
So:
Pushing the switch up and releasing it toggles (i.e. changes) the state of the front light. Once for on, once again for off.

Thanks. So the key is to make sure you check the dash area for light status icons when you're using this, to make sure you correctly toggle this off when it's no longer required.
To avoid annoying seven shades of crap out of the poor driver sitting behind you blinded by red fog lights.

There is some intelligence in the system to help with this.

The fog lights can only be selected if headlights/tail lights are on, and if the headlights/tail lights are turned off at any time the fog lights will of course go off as well.

The system does remember the front fog light setting though, but not the rear fog lights. So when you next turn on the headlights/tail lights the front fog light will also come on if it was on then they were last turned off. The rear fog light must always be manually reselected though, so there is never a danger of leaving the rear fog lights accidentally.

It's these little things in the Kia, where someone has made a conscious design decision and there's been actual proper thinking about the implementation of a feature, that shows they know what they're doing (most of the time).

I would certainly hope that you can turn on the front fogs without the headlights being on. That is the whole benefit of having low down fog lights. You get much less reflected fog glare with lights that are physically low down near the road. In proper pea soup fog with night conditions headlights glare back virtually blinds the driver. low down fog lights reflect much less glare back due to the low down position. So it is essential to be able to use the fogs with the headlights shut off. IIRC my Eniro can do this. Peter

I think you can use front fog lights so long as some type of front light is on. So if you have side lights (as they used to be called, but apparently they're now called Position & Taillamp) you should be able to turn on the front fog lights as well. No need for it to be main headlights, and certainly you should never use the full beam in fog as the reflection back is horrendous.

I would have to test my theory though as the manual uses the wording "The headlamps are turned ON" as the operating condition required for front fog lights.
