Tried again, didn't work, even with the reset button. I'll be getting the dealership to replace it... managed only 20 mins charging before it went this morning. It's really starting to p me off!
Thanks for your help guys (thumsup)

My granny charger seems to have gone the same way, starts up fine, runs for a bout a minute, then a click and a single red light next to the car icon. Nothing happens when I press the reset button. Mine is the later rubber enclosed charger. Worked fine for nearly 3 years. Are they covered by the 3 year warranty?

The granny charger is covered by the regular 3 year car warranty, but not the 8 year hybrid battery warranty. Not sure if the extended warranty covers it.

You can get an equivalent replacement from Screwfix for ÂŁ140, they offer a 10m one for another ÂŁ20:

I've just replaced my mk1 granny charger (which I've used constantly and put over 5mwh through it in the last 3 years) with this excellent replacement. It also has amps, kWh etc readings on the little display for about a quarter of VW's prices, though it's now gone up to ÂŁ200 for the 10m version.

I also have a red light issue and a flat reset button that doesn't do anything - doesn't feel like a button!!
How long.is the warranty? My car is 2018 and have been using the granny 3pin charger continuously since but now it fails I've already been shown this replacement in Screwfix:
